My wife and I went to SA a couple of years ago. The Alamo is not posted. The only places on the river walk I saw,we're some 51% places. If you go to any missions around SA, they are US park services, the common areas are legal for carry but the buildings are prohibited. There are no known city ordinances that prohibited carry.

There is a lobby that we walk through to access the shopping mall and other restaurants on the river walk that is 30.06 posted as of last year. I believe it was hotel lobby.

yeh, don't access it through that lobby and you should be good. we usually access it through the garage or through one of the stores. But I will tell you that we went through there a few weeks ago and they were doing some major construction on that mall....you might want to avoid that mall anyway....we've got some better mall that are a lot bigger and more fun.

I mean there are places which may not have proper signage and keeping an accurate database of existing 30.06 / .07 is a challenge due to the fact places change and some are not signed correct.
My intention was not to criticize state laws but improper signage at some places.

We just spent New Year in SA. Our hotel, Hotel Indigo on the Riverwalk, was improperly posted 30.07. Otherwise, the only time I encountered 30.06/30.077 was at the Cheesecake Factory (Itraitors). I carried everywhere we went and had no problems of any kind. We had a great trip.

My wife and I stayed on the riverwalk for New Years. I went armed most of the time, with no problems. (I did disarm a couple of times when we planned to visit drinking establishments.)

Most of the restaurants are not posted 30.06, with Bella's a notable exception. There are some 30.07s, and a few non-binding signs. Casa Rio has a politely-worded sign asking people to cover their weapons. And of course there are a number of 51% bars. I highly recommend Bigas-on-the-Banks for non-posted fine dining.

Hotels are a different story--the Hilton, Hyatt, and I think Westin are all posted 30.06, although the Hilton seems to have out-of-date signage. The two Omni properties (La Mansion and Mokura) did not appear to be posted.

Yes. The room you have rented is your home and thus your homestead for the duration of the rental.

As far as the Riverwalk, other than the places already mentioned, when we were there last April, we encountered nothing out of the ordinary.

We took one of the double-decker hop-on/hop-off bus tours while we were there, and the barbecue joint that it stops at (Augie's) offers a CHL discount..

In short, we carried everywhere we went with no hassles. You should be just fine. Enjoy San Antonio!

It is my understanding that you're good to go as long as you don't have to use the posted lobby to access your room. If your room has exterior access then you should be fine to carry just from your car to your room as that is your home for the night.

I haven't had any issues in San Antonio over the years that I have been here with knives or guns. 30.07 is fairly common but 30.06 are fairly rare outside the Riverwalk area. It's always enjoyable to be able to carry a firearm inside the Alamo.

Just took a trip down that way with my fiance last week. We stayed at "Omni La Manison del Rio" and it was pretty nice. We didn't have any problems. I saw plenty of 51% signs due to all the bars but I can only remember seeing one 30.06 actually on the riverwalk and it was posted up on the "Hyatt Regency Hotel". We didn't encounter any issues on the riverwalk other than the occasional panhandler. We went to the Alamo, Buckhorn saloon, Briscoe Museum (free on Tuesday after a certain time (4pm i think)), did the riverboat tour, and also went on a "LBJ and Texas Hill Country Tour" which was really nice. I didn't carry on the hill country tour as I was unsure exactly where we would be stopping and I knew there would be wine tasting so I was unsure of any 51% signs I might encounter. I definitely recommend the tour. It took us by LBJ's boyhood home and LBJ ranch, then over to Fredricksburg, through Luckenbach, and then we ended with some wine tasting. I never saw any 30.06 or 51% signs on the whole tour. There was only 9 people on the tour (including the driver) and everyone was super nice. Check "groupon" before you go and you can find some really good deals.
