Welcome to the fold Jerry!
As LT said, nice screen name…be sure to join in on the Glock vs 1911 discussions as they pop up, which happens often

. There are quite a few folks on both sides of the discussion, so there’s no shortage of opinions. By the way, what do you carry?
In regards to CA, except for a few business trips to Silicon Valley, I haven’t been in the state since the early 70’s when I was stationed there in the military. While there I fell in love with the land…spent a lot of time in the parks when not on duty. It was some of the best horse country I’ve had the privilege to ride in.
I also liked the rural folks attitude towards life…they were just the same as the rural folks of Virginia which is where I was born and raised…real “salt of the earth types. It’s a real shame places like LA/San Fran get to decide what the state is going to be…CA has so much potential.
But of course no matter how much it improved, it would still be behind Texas and Virginia

Welcome, Jerry. Mrs. Anygun and I are escapees...er uh, veterans of 8+ years in the East Bay (SF Bay). I managed to escape with all of my normal capacity magazines (Kali speak - High capacity).
It was good to return to the Lone Start State.
So, you are a 1911 fanatic and a John Browning disciple!
1911s rule.

My name too & there are a few on this board that think I believe a 1911 is the only pistol platform in the whole world. Well it is for me anyway.
Did all y'all get the sample DVD in the mail from the NRA,
Ten Guns that Changed the World?
The 1911 was number 3, and is the only handgun on the list besides the original Colt Paterson revolver. So, LT,
Back on topic, I loved the Cali-, er, Kalifornsky geography. But I disliked just about everything else in the years I lived there. As a seventh-generation Texan, I hurried back here as fast as I could.

I'm from San Jose. Came to Houston 2 1/2 years ago. Unfortunately, California is no longer the Golden State.

I did get the 10 guns DVD from NRA. I did notice the prominent place given the 1911.
I also have really enjoied the book by Jeff Cooper, "To Ride, Shoot Streight & Speak The Truth." This was a Christmas present from a good friend & Jeff really did a job on the Baretta 92. Bottom line is there just aint no pistol that has shinned like the 1911 in the last 100 yrs.
Guess I'll stick w/ my K & Springer.
