Remember, the 380 Shield EZ is not a striker-fired pistol, it has an internal hammer. It doesn't have a so-called trigger safety as on Glocks, XD's, regular M&Ps. I suspect that's why Smith put the grip safety on it.

The thumb safety on my M&P M2.0 full size is very easy to move. It’s such a common issue that there are instructional videos on how to remove the safety and make the notch deeper to increase the force required to change the position. During training classes I’ve accidentally engaged it while returning to holster, resulting in not getting next shot off.
I suspect S&W has the same notch too small issue with the Shield EZ.
