My point is what is in large red text. Why did the deputy believe it was necessary to run the weapon to see if it was stolen? He had
no PC or RAS.

It is a regular occurrence on Live PD to run the serial numbers on firearms. I have also seen it on some of the other "cop shows". Northwoods law, Lonestar law and Alaska Troopers all show officers running handgun serial numbers. Funny thing. Seeing it so much had me thinking it was legal.

That's the reason my Lexus has a front plate on it. The service advisor asked me twice if I wanted the front plate installed.

You dont catch fish if you dont cast the net.
Same reason he runs the LP on the car and the DL of the driver. He doesnt know until he checks. Without pc or ras he has to ask.
Odds of someone with a LTC carrying a stolen pistol are prolly slim to none but if it was bought it a private transfer it very well could be and the current owner never know about it.

This is the very reason I always laugh when the seller of a firearm says they want a bill of sale to protect themselves. The seller has zero to worry about, the buyer is the one who should be asking for the bill of sale.

I have a former Richland LivePD deputy a couple hundred feet away right now getting trained on his new job. He said he was tired of making $35k a year
