This is what I believe also. I think the same thing when they arrest someone and go on about how many guns they own. They are attempting to relate ammo and gun count with criminal intent. It is along the same lines as claiming nobody "NEEDS" a 30 round magazine or an AR15.

I was about to ask if there was a law I didn't know about that made it illegal for a felon to own ammo. They might as well mention the cool shoes the guy was wearing, or any other legal items he happened to have with him.

I switched to reading then disposing of magazines instead of keeping years worth.
Today, all my magazines are less than a year old.
And
I barely have enough firearms and ammo (for a Texan).
