You mean just like a CHL holder, whose license is suspended, and gun confiscated, as soon as they are charged with a DUI?

Just to complete the thread drift, you two realize that it's impossible to be more than 100%, right? Because 100% means "out of a maximum possible 'score' of 100, this is rates a <whatever>". But it's important to note that <whatever> can't be higher than 100. It's like the people who say they put in 110% of their effort... well, no, they just weren't giving 100% before, so the increase makes it look like they're giving more than 100% even though they aren't. (I had this same debate with my 5th grade history teacher when I got 105% on a test due to some extra credit; she didn't get it either... Everyone's always dismissive of the math pedantics... <sigh>)

If I was the teacher I would have dropped your grade to 100% to make you happy.

So if I buy something for $20 and sell it at $300, what percentage is my markup? How about my margin?

How did we get from cavity searches to math?

That's a different usage... Since you're comparing two quantities, the percentages are whatever the math says they are. In the previous example, one of the quantities is fixed at whatever the maximum is. Like if you put in 3/4 (.75) of your maximum effort (1), that's a (.75/1)*100% = 75% effort. If you give > 100% effort, then you were wrong about what your maximum effort was. In your example, though, the denominator isn't fixed at 1, so if you're selling something for $300 that you bought for $20, your sale price is ($300/$20)*100% = 1,500% of your purchase price. Note that this not the same as an increase of 1,500%, which would result in a sale price of $320 because then you're adding 1,500% of $20 ($300) to $20 for a total of $320. Dunno how you calculate margins or markups, so I can't answer your question directly, sorry.

Yes. A CHL holder would be innocent until proven guilty. What happens to them is the same thing that happens to a LEO, although in a different manner. A LEO looses their work gun,(if dept owned). badge/ID and peace officer powers are suspended meaning they can't carry a concealed weapon. In addition the LE is most likely suspended w/o pay. If the LE is convicted, they automatically loose their peace officer license in TX, so they are also unemployed for the same misdemeanor charge of DWI.
