He's against open carry, but he wants the top three reasons why we shouldn't have campus carry???

So based on the testimony today, it's likely campus carry will go the same way, but open carry won't be allowed on a college campus.

Is that the compromise this year to get these two bills passed?

Kirk Watson just proved he is as big of an arrogant ass as is Sen. Whitmire. Of course, he pretty much had to be so since he was Mayor of Austin.

Watson is also a jerk. Huffman wasn't prepared where he was going with why she thinks universities shouldn't have open carry but others should. He got to her.

Not saying I agree with her amendment but she could have used the argument the openly carried gun would be exposed with a lot of under aged teens in close proximity and stupidity by those teens presented a danger. Anything would have been better than her argument. Watson appeared to ambush her.

It looks like it.

One concern I have is that not all campuses have a fence around them. If you go to Commerce, you will find A&M buildings interspersed with the city.

How the heck do you know where you can and can't open carry? Not that I would, but it's a puzzler to me.

I hope that a lot of OCT/OCTC/CATI folks are watching this debate. If anyone watching thinks that unlicensed open-carry had any chance of passage, then they are unwilling to to fact political reality.

The campus amendment will be an interesting puzzle for non fenced campuses. I know of one that is wide open..just happen to work there... Maybe that they will use the same definition of 'campus' as for CC.

Is this Ellis talking about courthouses? Why do they not understand open carry does not make it easier for someone to carry a gun and shoot someone? The method of carry has nothing to do with it.

Huffines reminds me of Kory Watkins. They come across like they are cut from the same cloth.

He comes across as someone that doesn't warrant much respect or consideration. While much of what he says is true, after what just happened, this is not the time to jump up and beat his unlicensed OC drum.

I had to work and missed the online session.

Can someone summarize what happened, and what they think will/won't happen next?

And, what are the chances of OC passing based on today's hearings?

Thanks folks....

Who is the guy talking now? He sounds like a TV evangelist.
