Odd... I've had the opposite experience. Federal (50 rnd 9mm FMJ from Walmart) leaves my gun almost looking like it hasn't been fired, but Winchester (100 rnd 9mm FMJ white box from Walmart) makes it look like I tumbled it around in a charcoal bag.

interesting.

After thinking about maybe im using too much lube? I like to run my 1911s wet but maybe its too much and the powder residue sticks to the oil/grease. You could be correct, sir.
I could be correct, but I doubt it's for that reason. I leave my gun so wet, it's been known to leak.

(Ok, that only happened once, but still, it's pretty wet.)

Perhaps the cleanliness of any given round varies from gun to gun.

Cabela's has the PMC 115 gr 9mm on sale for $10.99 per box; if you purchase a minimum of $150 and use their $20 coupon buck on their site, then the after-tax per box cost is around $10.47. That's better than the after-tax cost of Federal 9mm at Wally World.

And the .380 is also on sale at $13.99, which is also relatively good these days.

Date and time of sighting: Saturday, 930 PM, 9/11/10.
Location: Wal-Mart, FM1171/West Main St, Lewisville, Denton County.

For pistol calibers they had .38 Special, .357 Magnum, overflowing 9MM
types, a lot of .40. You know - the usual that now always seems available
in more quantity than you have money in your possession.

SURPRISE CALIBERS:
.380 WWB, 100 rounds each, 95 grain FMJ's. 2 boxes.

.45 FMJ, WWB, 100 round Value Packs, about 8 of these.

Happy shopping all you Denton County shootists!

What are the sale prices?

Barbi Q:

"What are the sale prices?"

Over time, this thread has devolved into an "ammo spotted" thread
rather than "ammo on sale" for a good price thread.

The ammo shortage has eased considerably over the last year, but I
made this entry because .380 and .45 are still hard to find.

I didn't have any note paper with me when I saw these, but I believe
the .45 WWB, 100 round FMJ Value Packs run about $32.97.

.380, FMJ, 95 grain, WWB, 100 round Value Pack - I forget.
But if you have a .380, you'll hop in there and get it at any price.
Wally's is always the cheapest, IMHO.

That is pretty good for 380! I've seen it as high as 29 for FMJ!?!

Academy at Edgebrook and I45 had Monarch, WWB and Remington .380, usual pricing. And they had most other calibers SD and FMJ. Stock is coming back, now if we could get to pre-election pricing...

I didn't look at all the ammo prices, but I just bought WWB .45 in the 100 round pack at the WalMart in Pearland (Broadway and 288) for $32.97 a box (of 100). I snagged the last two that were on the shelf, but that doesn't mean they won't have more.
yes, that's 16 and change a box for .45. Pre Obama pricing nearly.

I've been seeing good bulk deals on various ammos in the Cheaper Than Dirt catalog out of Ft. Worth, Texas.

OK, I'm going to declare the ammo shortage over (in my area).
The last several times I've been to Academy, the shelves are stuffed with every caliber.
They even have a surplus of WWB 100 count .380

Also, I've noticed a full selection of guns lately.

USA1, I would sure agree with you on the ammo availability. Certainly looking better in Dallas than it has for a long time. Prices seem to be reasonable - considering just a short time ago.

So, the WWB I spotted at WalMart for $32 a box? Same WWB .45 ACP is $42 a box at the Pearland Bass Pro shops :banghead:

Headed over to Walmart ASAP this week to buy ammo for the forum range day saturday.

Date and time of sighting: 10/19/10, 300 AM.
Location: Wal-Mart, FM1171/West Main St, Lewisville, Denton County.

They had all the usual calibers that are plentiful these days.
Here's the 2 rarities:

.380, WWB, JHP, Value Packs, 100 Rounds, 7 boxes of these. Can't remember the price.

.45 JHP, WWB and Remington. Maybe 2 or 3 boxes of 50 rounds each.
