Is that the compromise this year to get these two bills passed?
she definitely wasn't prepared for that. I'll confess that I don't fully understand the process, but could see this debate coming back up during campus carry. "Almost all members of the republican party agree that open carry of guns is a bad idea on campus. Then how could they possibly say that concealed carry is OK. No matter how you carry it, guns on campus are bad" NOTE This is not my position - just an argument I could see being made by the opposition.

Flip side, if open carry on campus were allowed, after this vote it may have endangered campus carry at all. Keep campus' a GFZ and it's a non-issue. Now campus carry can be debated on it's own merit.

He comes across as someone that doesn't warrant much respect or consideration. While much of what he says is true, after what just happened, this is not the time to jump up and beat his unlicensed OC drum.
Sounds to me that Watkins has his own personal mouthpiece...... :banghead:

Freshman Senator Huffines, the author of SB342, i.e. unlicensed open-carry. He was supported by Dudley Brown/NAGR and reportedly received a monitory donation. I'm sure he will be praised by some for taking such a "bold stand." He just marginalized himself and he's likely going to find it impossible to work with Senators this or any issue. He may well find himself a one-term Senator.

What a show. Huffines used this platform to publicize something that would otherwise receive no air time at all. He is an embarrassment.

So, other than getting a bad impression of some of these folks, what should we take away from this?

I'm almost completely ignorant when it comes to Texas politics so I'm not sure what this means for the bill
