My point exactly.

I believe the dispatcher inadvertantly challenged Mr. Horn into doing exactly the opposite of what he eventually did...

Charles L. Cotton wrote:Here's a new version of what Mr. Horn said prompted him to shoot. I would like to point out that remembering things differently some time after a deadly force encounter is all too common and not necessarily an indication someone is lying. It also points out another risk in talking too much, whether to a dispatcher or anyone else. (Note, I'm not saying you should remain mute to the first responding officer, but that's been covered extensively in other threads.)

I'd like to see those discussions. A LEO in my family told me in the case of shooting someone, give only your name and license #, nothing else. I guess multiple opinions exist, but I'm not saying squat until my lawyer says so.

I think he might have done himself in with the phrase "I'm going to kill them." That pretty much showed intent on shooting. He was talking to the dispatcher who told him to stay put, and instead he said he was going to kill the guys and he did. Right or wrong in protecting someone's property, I don't think he'll be getting off with this one.

After reading of the BG's wife's comments, I would like to hear what she has to say about him breaking into someone's house anyway! But they only went to make Mr. Horn look bad. Perhaps Mr. Horn shoudl have been a bit quiter about his intentions, but I am glad the BGs got what they deserved!
I hope the 12 think the same as I!

he only said "im gonna kill them" after being told he would get himself shot if he went outside. it could be argued that he said it in response to that statement. if someone tells me i will get myself shot by a couple of lowlife illegal alien burglars if i go outside my house, i would probably be thinking "wanna bet, im gonna kill them" or something along those lines too.

I suppose that is true. I think that his defense lawyer will have his hands full in trying to show that there was no intent originally to kill the BGs, because I would imagine that the prosecutor will try that angle to get him put away. Don't get me wrong, I support what Mr. Horn did, and I think that if this was a more common occurrence (for burglars to get shot, and the people shooting them be supported by the public), crime would go down significantly.

Not that the advice isn't worth a good bit of money...

The New Black Panthers went to Mr. Horns neighborhood on Sunday to protest his shooting the two burglars. This is what they met when they got there:

Here's the article on the protest that was in the Houston Chronicle:

I find it interesting that they say Horn is judge, jury and executioner and then in the same sentence say that Horn is guilty of a crime.

If Quannell Evans put his efforts into urging blacks to NOT COMMIT CRIMES, rather than creating a media circus after one gets shot, I might have just a tiny bit of respect for the man. Unfortunately, he's simply a race-baiting, media-whoring, Al Sharpton wannabe who is making his money exploiting the misfortune of poor blacks.
