SB 1581 is a higher education bill dealing with finances. It has the campus carry amendment attached to it. A Point Of Order (POO) was called on it when it was in the Senate and it was determined to be germane because Zaffarini's amendment made this one germane. Now the SB is in the House and there's a POO there on if Campus Carry is germane. Right?
And the bill is supposed to be heard today. Now. Right?
So what is going on/has happened that I haven't followed?
Yes. House has a "2 subject rule" they'll say fiscal+campuscarry= 2 subjects, ignoring fiscal relationship of immunity + insurance premium restriction
bill was postponted "until 3:30" along with SB 5 and SB 1811 .... but that probably means tomorrow?
They'll meet Saturday too ... maybe Sunday

Senate offer has 21 signatures, incl. West's and Hinojosa's, Dewhurst say
Dewherst made an offer on the budget bills, everything depends on Strauss I guess.

They are on SB 23 ... it has lots of amendments and amendments to amendments .... will take a long time
on amendment 12 now.... so later this eve or tomorrow or sat/sun for CampusCarry maybe
Personally, I think it covers more than 2 subjects HMOs doctors dispensing meds, etc

Dewhurst walks back into Senate chamber. Smiling
Van de Putte to press table, laughing: "Sometimes, things just happen. " Refusing comment

Hey, this pertains to my area. This is not a laughing matter. Oh, wait...I don't have managed care. I have health insurance through my employer.

I wonder if any of them have been smart enough to call this a stimulus package. Think of all the new CHLs and gun sales that will be a result of this bill

. I dunno about you guys but I plan on getting a smaller gun for carrying on campus when this thing passes

I wonder if the IRS will accept that as a valid educational expense for the tax write-off.
I was planning on getting a pocket auto to carry to school, but it looks like I won't have that excuse since private institutions won't be included.

We don't know what amendments are included...and anyway, there's a Homeland Security bill. Germane b/c we've caught a terrorist in Lubbock, going to Tech. Who knows if there's any would-be terrorists at Baylor, Abilene Christian, SMU, or TCU?

LW Seecamp. not the lightest .380, but probably the smallest.... if you're rich, get two
Seecamp is my BUG, some others on here have them too; that's what IV kept saying; if 2178 passed, pass whatever "policy" you want, you won't see my Seecamp
