Although my wife and I received our PIN's in the mail on 5/15/2009, we are not able to check the status of our applications because we do not live in Texas or have Texas DL's. I guess we just have to wait and wait and wait.
I read an article the other day in the Amarillo paper that said that some people have had to wait as long as 16 weeks and thats only four more weeks away.

03/14/09 - CHL Class completed
03/23/09 - Mailed packet
03/26/09 - Packet received by DPS
05/15/09 - Received PIN in mail (Dated 05/08/09)....processing application.

Application Completed - license issued or certificate active

Hope everyone else that is still waiting does not wait for long. Almost exactly 90 days from date received by DPS.

FINALLY

There is light at the end of the tunnel... and no it was not a train...
After 96 days from Mailing my app, I finally got my plastic in hand...
And that was with the proof of citizenship mix-up
(that they should have told me I needed when I submitten my app : )

Got online this morning to check my status like I usually do and it finally changed to "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"

106 days to process. Just waiting for the plastic to come in!!

Guessing it will be here in about a week?

Being in the Austin area I would like to think it would be here sooner, but who knows.

It took longer than I expected but at least it's finally over with!

I mailed my packet off the 5th of March. This message was posted today on their website. It was 106 days total from the day it was sent (Over a quarter of a year!). Good luck to everyone else! My Kahr's going for a ride on my strongside in a few days. Take care. I'm outta here!

Guess what? If you fill out the application form with previous arrest history, residence, etc. by hand and then pay online, you have to WAIT until they send you your packet and send in that application form! They won't take the handwritten form that has the EXACT same info on it!!!

What a farce of a department. I guess my clock is officially reset.

There's nothing like 6 weeks for them to get back around to my application...back to 'processing' today. I ended up sending them the requested info 3 times.

Now I see that others that took the class and sent in their application around the same time I did are getting their plastic...

03/10/09 -- state received my packet
04/24/09 -- PIN received - processing app
06/17/09 -- status finally changed to app approved
06/20/09 -- plastic received in the mail!!

I think I might stick around until my license arrives in the mail. I think I'll receive it sometime Mon.-Wed. I got the complete message on Friday after 106 days of waiting. I didn't call or e-mail DPS even once. I figured bothering them with stupid "Are we there yet?" questions like a child on a road trip would be counterproductive. I feel my patience has paid off. No problems were encountered regarding fingerprints, pictures, signatures, etc... along the way. Just a nice smooth wait. It was a long time coming but the wait is over! The long time was expected with all the applicants as of late. I believe everyone who bugs their representatives and clogs up the DPS e-mail should be sent to the bottom of "the stack." If it weren't for them, who knows? - people might be getting their complete messages earlier. Waiting sucks but it's a burden everyone who applies for a CHL has to simply accept. I can't wait to get my plastic! Mail only takes a day to get here from Austin.

Has anyone recieved there plastic who had to wait on Harris County?
