Today I checked my status and it said drum roll.......................................... Fingerprints : Complete
Now I have to wait on background check and CHL print

License mailed. I live close to Austin so hopefully it will get here sooner rather than later!

06/07/2010 - Additional materials mailed to DPS (photo holder, fingerprint affidavit, etc.)
06/22/2010 - Additional materials received (website updated), background check: under review.
07/17/2010 - Background check complete. Concealed handgun license: manufacturing.
07/22/2010 - Concealed Handgun License: Mailed.

Anyone know what the background check consist of?

CONGRATS!!

Just about to leave for a Dentist appointment so I decided to check my status for the second time this morning and...
* Application : Received
* Fingerprints : Under review
* Affidavits : Received
* DL or ID : Valid
* Citizenship : No documentation required
* Passport photo holder : Received
* Photo : Received
* Proof of Classroom training : Received
* Proof of Proficiency training : Received
* Fee : Received
* Background Check : Under review
* Concealed Handgun License : Print pending completion of application review

After sending my application back to them after it was accepted and stamped as approved, then someone in processing said it needed to be on the yellow paper. (See my post in this thread for the rest of that story on the yellow application) They sent the original application(white) copy along with a letter, new Yellow application, and a post-it note with a message similar to: "Please copy your information exactly from the white application to the yellow application" lol
I sent it back certified of course, and didn't see or hear of any progress until just now. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to do things by "the book", but in this situation I'm just curious as to why (if the information is correct on the white sheet that was given to me by my CHL instructor) I would have to just copy it verbatim onto the yellow copy. It seems like a waste of paper, time, money, and resources to send it back and fourth. All this for an application with no signature or time/date stamp on it to confirm it's validity in the first place. In truth anyone could have transferred the information on that page on my behalf without any personal risk to themselves of forgery.
But who cares about all that I have UPDATED STATUS!!

Sorry about my little rant guys and gals, I just wanted to point out how silly some of this process is.
Now I just hope the dentist has good news for me too...

as of today, finger prints approved just waiting on the background check now. going on 1 month and 10 days

Yes, if some of those folks on the April thread would finally get processed, it might make room for the June applications.

Does anyone have any idea if the volume now is up or down versus "normal".

Wow, such obtuse critisism, whatever happened to "Right on dude, youre the man, I'm so glad you took the time to inspire me with your haiku, I wish I was like you, and my wife wants your autograph.... on her lower back!" or "Holy cow man, what a display of lyrical prowess, hows about a million dollars, and lifetime of royalties for the rights and have it played by a globally recognized superstar rock-band like 'Radiohead"

**P.S status still pending, it will be 30 days on the 30th of this month.

probably the longest wait you have ever had, I know it was for me, and it took from Mailed on Friday, until Wednesday the next week, to get from Austin to Houston, how rude! LOL

I hate the color yellow. I've had three FBI background checks in my life (military, security clearance, etc.)! Why must this one take so long?!!!!
