I just think it is just total incompetence in play. I have seen a lot of this in corporate America.
I very seldom disagree with you Keith, but I believe everything the leader of the free world is doing is done on purpose. He is doing everything in his power to make America a third World Country. He has apologized to other Countries for America's dominance and I think this is his way of trying to make us all equal.

Good luck getting a refund. Hope you enjoyed your vacation. Remember this when you vote in November.

Stranded on a cruise ship -- Oh, the Horrors! Hope they don't run out of caviar!

Are you kidding me? That's an Ebola breeding ground!

Yeah, unless they've had an engine-room fire too, the current ship travelers should survive their ordeal without missing a single hors d'oeuvre.

Incompetence? I strenuously disagree. It isn't about incompetence, it is about having and maintaining a certain world-view, no matter the cost.
The affected African nations have closed their borders
and contained the spread of the disease. We have not. Those are banana republics, and they understand better than "The Leader of the Free World" how to control a disease? That is not incompetence. THAT is being so wedded to an ideology that you cannot admit when that ideology will kill your own people. Incompetence means that you're too dumb to do the job. This isn't that. This is denial. When denial rises to the point where it kills people, it is evil. Evil is malice. Hanlon's razor is not operant here. This malice is so deep, it doesn't recognize itself.
How many Americans will have to die from an UTTERLY preventable cause before this administration can admit that its POLITICS are the problem? I have to say, that from where I sit right now, I don't think there can ever be enough dead for the evil of this administration's denial to be overcome. They will simply say that they haven't reached far enough in the direction they are already stumbling, and they will put their chins down, tilt their bodies even further in that direction, and rush headlong into the disaster..........blaming it on Bush all the while.

What we have going on in the White House right now is the political equivalent of an Engine Room fire.

Ebola Czar picked by WH has no medical training at all.
No surprise there.

It is consistent with bringing tens of thousands of illegal immigrant children with drug resistant tuberculosis and other communicable diseases across the border, distributing them throughout the country as quickly as possible, and then mandating that they be admitted to the schools without proof of vaccination - the same schools our own kids can't get into without the vaccination records.
It is also consistent with sending 4,000 of our remaining combat exhausted troops into the current epidemic's hot zone with no military related mission, no training and no effective protection. The likely consequence of that is not hard to foresee.
Why else would the head of the CDC expose himself to ridicule and calls for resignation by telling the country that Ebola is hard to catch, every hospital in America is well prepared to handle cases, approve a monitored person with a fever to fly on a commercial airline, and refuse to recommend closing our borders to people from infected areas because that might harm the economies of some African nations? Nobody is innocently that dumb.
There's a pattern here that's hard to miss, and it's consistent with many other actions of this administration that have had the effect of weakening the U.S. economically and militarily.
It's ugly and its implications are stark, but I'm having trouble coming up with an alternate explanation for what we see.
Any help with what I may be missing would be appreciated. I could sleep a lot better if I had a credible alternate explanation for this.
I just think it is just total incompetence in play. I have seen a lot of this in corporate America. The
Peter Principle is very much in effect and the upper management promotes those below to their level of incompetence. This is because the upper manager does not want those below to be smarter or better than they are and doesn't want them to challenge the upper managers decisions. They have a fear the more intelligent lower manager will expose them for the incompetent ninny they are and end up taking their job, so they won't promote that one, they take the 'yes man'. This type of organization building tends to create an environment where only the idiots exist and the structure eventually collapses taking other things with it. I saw that happen a couple of years ago when a new upper level officer came into a team and the smart managers all starting bailing as they could see the ship was sinking and the Captain was not going to let anyone save it.
I believe that is what we have in place today, a President who is inept and puts his cronies or 'yes men' in positions of power where they are not equipped to truly handle the job. If anyone challenges him, he squelches them, then he makes it so unbearable they quit. If they are smart they bail out before the ship goes down.
I think we are all riding that sinking ship and the Captain is the one drilling more holes in the hull while telling everyone to just have another drink and enjoy the show.

Well, I considered that more comforting (??) explanation, but don't think it fits because incompetence makes mistakes in many directions. Some are really bad, some not so bad, and some relatively neutral. When at every decision point the worst choice available is chosen, I find it hard to avoid thinking that a deliberate plan underlies the actions.

Why would medical competence be a consideration?
His actual role has nothing to do with medicine just like the director of the CDC.

A good portion of their job would be vector control, at least a fundamental knowledge of microbiology, medicine or epidemiology should be a prerequisite.

What do you mean? He has substantial experience from Oslammer's viewpoint: after all, it is a 100% political position, not a medical position.
In their worldview, all positions are political regardless of subject matter.

Washington, DC – Judicial Watch has learned that the Obama administration is actively formulating plans to admit Ebola-infected non-U.S. citizens into the United States for treatment.
Looks as if this administration is turning criminal in their plans.

Apparently the new Czar was selected for his ability at damage control in advance of the elections.
I believe the administrations view is that there are no countries, only a world. All world citizens should be allowed to go anywhere they like, live anywhere they like, work anywhere they like. The US is the only member of this world citizenship at the moment.
Thus we cannot exclude any person who is sick and in need.

Wonder what Mexico would say if we treated their TB and smallpox patients the same way and refused them entry.....
