Got mine back today.

Dry firing feels good, bout the same as before.

Will try to get to the range this weekend and see how it feels live.

Trigger pull is a measured 8 pounds.

Now for the range test to see how it actually works. Unfortunately, I can't go this weekend - it'll have to wait a few more days.

Mine was received on 9/5 and I got it back yesterday too.

Either they just fixed around 15,000 guns in one day, or they scrambled the receiving sequence of those first several high volume days.

They're making rapid progress and they'll all get done, but I don't think "order in which they were received" was firmly established until several days after the initial avalanche.

Mine arrived at Springfield on 9/6, on the truck for delivery back to me today. Excited to get it back...hopefully this is the last of any concerns with this gun because I REALLY like the way it shoots and carries.

Mine will be returned to me "after the holidays." I'm OK with that. It's the tradeoff for waiting until I knew for sure that there would be a fix, and what the nature of the fix is, before sending the pistol in.

One of mine is now en route back to Texas. The other should be shipped prior to Thanksgiving if their schedule is still on track.

Mine is on the way back...expected on Tuesday.

When they first said how it was shipping back they said, "an adult has to sign for it." I figured cool, my daughter will be home, she's an adult. Well, according to Fedex, 18 isn't an adult.

So I called them and asked if I could have that tracking number held at the Fedex facility. They told me they would have to try to deliver it. I told them that I could tell them right now nobody they will allow sign for it will be there. They said that once it shows in tracking that they tried to deliver it, THEN I could call the 800 number and ask them to hold it and I could come pick itup. Makes no sense...

My .45 came home to roost today. I will have time tomorrow to take it to my range and try it out. Its in the mule right now along with 50 rounds of ammo. I am eager to give it a try. Trigger is very smooth, not scratchy at all as some have described. I don't know if its a heavier trigger since I didn't scale it prior to sending it in but in any case, its ok with me. My 9 should be here Friday and hopefully it will be as smooth as this one is. So, that being said, I am glad to have one of them back and feel like the wait was worth it.

Just stopped at the range and spent 50 rnds on mine just to make sure it goes bang when you squeeze the trigger before I put it back in the holster...

I think the trigger is a little heavier but not by much...and it might be my imagination, but I think the take-up is shorter. I don't detect any increase in tension just before it breaks...it just seemes to have steady tension, then it breaks nice and clean.

I may keep wearing the 1911 for a while during winter (I just enjoy shooting it more). I bought the XDS for carry because of it's size but realize once I started carrying it that I could probably conceal alot more gun than I thought I could. This was confirmed when I borrowed a basic High Standard 1911 from a friend while my XDS was gone and I started carrying it. I like the gun and may just buy it from him. He was looking at selling it when I borrowed it.

Anyway, I am not really upset about anything to do with the recall other than the fact that they told me to send it, then told me after they had it in their posession that they didn't have a fix ready yet. The rest of the process I can understand. Overall, I am just happy to have my gun back.

Recently received a NEW XD-S, as a replacement for the one I sent in. They decided not to "upgrade" mine due to a slam fire incident, and they simply replaced it with a brand new one (with a serial number outside the range of the recall qualifier). I don't know if it was manufactured after the recall or simply "upgraded" before being sent to be sold, but it feels much better than my old one. I used to have problems chambering rounds, when I would "guide" the slide instead of slamming it. It would not fully close (by about 1/8" or even less). On the new XD-S, no matter how gently I guide the slide, it goes all the way in and falls perfectly into place.

I haven't taken it to the range yet... Will see how it shoots soon.

"Guiding the slide" is improper operation. The gun is designed to work properly when the slide is fully retracted and let go to chamber the round under full recoil spring return action.

I am aware of that. I was doing it initially, when I first bought the gun, simply to test it before I took it out to the range with live ammunition. I always want to learn every aspect and every "feel" of a new gun before I fire it. And, unfortunately, eventually, when I let the slide snap, it did slam fire when chambering the first round. Thankfully, due to my meticulous safety protocols, no one got hurt, but these unintentional fire incidents are very unpleasant regardless.

Agreed.

Strict attention to rules 1 an 4 kept a true accidental discharge from becoming a potentially tragic negligent one.

It was a one in a multimillion slam fire event, but it goes to prove just how important it is to follow the rules each and every time - because you just never know.

After 4 months... Mine is finally coming home... Day after Christmas.
