This is why I am concerned about Californians moving to Texas and changing the political climate here. Even some of the "Republicans" are liberal. I know this doesn't apply to all, so if you are a conservative, please don't take offense.
Which is why I think there should be wall all the way around the state and if you want to immigrate here (foreign country or another state, which is the same thing), you have to go to Austin and drag a hippie to the otherside of a border. Which one, I don't care.
That's meant as a joke. So to all the liberal, hippie, leftists: don't get all hurt in the bobo. Or was it a joke?

There's nothing "liberal" about socialism.
Nope, but there is alot of communist about socialism.
Socialism was only ever a transitional stage toward communism. It turns out that communism doesn't scale up well, and most of the communists in Asia (small peasant villages that stuck together because the alternative was death) were annihilated or dispersed by the Soviets and ChiComs. So the Marxist "grand experiment" stalls out in socialism and then morphs into fascism (China) or plutocracy (Russia).
None of those are examples that thinking people would seek to emulate, but if you bring it up to a committed Socialist, they'll immediately haul out the mother of all No True Scotsman defenses. It is hilarious unless they're at risk of gaining power.

After receiving a 4th text message from Beato's campaign, I replied with a request for them to stop. Got a reply telling me they would take me off their list. We'll see.

I still get them. The last one was regarding the mail in ballot I requested. The problem is, I didn't request a mail in ballot.

History shows a Socialist is just a Communist who hasn't come out of the closet.

Cruz leads O'Rourke 54-45 in Quinnipuac poll
While good news... it scares me a bit that it's only 9 pts. That's within the margin of a big dem turnout, which usually doesn't happen here (according to several articles I read recently) but could if other forces fire them up. I'd like to see a 25-30 pt spread, then I'd be comfortable!
This is always the case, it will come down to turnout. Cruz so far has not really campaigned and what little he's done has been at best ineffectual. He hasn't been out there busting his butt like he did to win the seat originally.
Hopefully that is soon to change and he'll pour it on from now till election day. He's supposed to have an appearance in Lubbock over the weekend I believe, hopefully we see a big turnout.
Either way it's up to us to be energized, educate anyone who will discuss the issues, and ensure that our side turns out and votes in large numbers.
The candidates can only do so much, the rest is up to us.

Went to Pete Sessions event last night. He says Dems are angry, fired up and motivated to turn out and vote. Republicans do not seem to be exhibiting that same fervor. Not good.
Republicans in general and conservatives in particular tend to be quieter and more reserved, we just aren't as emotional nor as motivated by emotional arguments.
Maybe we need to work on that. I haven't seen a lot of activism on our side since the Tea Party Movement was basically squelched by the last administration.

First debate tonight. KPRC poll showed Beto won by big margin. But it was a call in poll, not really representative, except that Beto supporters could vote many times.
Beto has the Superstar factor like Obama had. Today I saw a guy walking down the street wearing a Beto t shirt.
So he is clearly the idol.
I hope after he loses he will relocate to CA where he could do very well.

“Ted Cruz v Robert Francis "Beto" O'Rourke debate: I noticed the challenger resorted to lies and platitudes. He seemed embarrassed and angry to be White, wants to raise your taxes big time, impeach the president and has a real issue with law enforcement. Slam dunk for Ted Cruz #TexasSenateDebate”.
