March - Pfizer
1st shot no reaction
2nd shot very tired and achy next day, tired the next, fine the next
December- moderna
Booster, extreme chills over night, shaking like a leaf in the wind. Next day extremely tired and achy, next day tired, then fine.

I had Covid back last year right before Christmas. Very mild symptoms, slight cough, runny nose, upset stomach, and loss of taste and smell for about a day and a half. Rest of family were exposed Christmas Day and had similar symptoms to me, except wife lost taste and smell for several months, and a lasting change in taste on some foods.
As for shots, I got Pfizer for all three. Got first shot early last year as I am a first responder for county. On 1st one had a slight fever that night that was taken care of with a couple of Tylenol. Felt a little tired next day, but that was it. 2nd a month later shot had no side effects. Booster a couple of weeks ago had just a sore arm for a couple of days. No other affect.

I had my first and second shots (Pfizer) in mid-May and early-April. Knock on wood, I’ve avoided catching Covid so far…and I have NOT been wearing a mask or taking any serious precautions. Every year since our son got married (10 yrs ago), we have joined our DIL's family on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter for a big family gathering and feast. We were there for Thanksgiving this year, but my son's FIL got a Covid diagnosis 2 days ago, so we are having a small quiet Christmas this year. Fortunately, he’s not all that sick, so we’re postponing the family gathering for a couple of weeks and are going to play it by ear.
I’m trying to get my 3rd Covid shot in the next week. Plus I need my flu and pneumonia shots too, but I don’t want to get them all at once.

You know, I don’t know which variant he has. I got the info indirectly through my DIL. I’ll be calling him later today to see how he’s doing, and I’ll ask then. I’m not particularly paranoid about catching Covid, but I don’t want to temp fate either. Plus, his wife is a person who has a lot of anxiety and is a bit of a hypochondriac, so I don’t want to add to her stress. One of their other granddaughters had brain surgery for an aggressive tumor about 18 months ago, and she has been in isolation for a badly compromised immune system during the chemo and radiation treatments. Thankfully, she seems to be in remission now and is recovering well, but her Mimi still has a lot of stress over infecting the granddaughter with something. So between her fears about a sick husband, and her fears about the other granddaughter, we're going to just stay out of the way until her husband is all better.

I would be the same way in that circumstance! Their grand Daughter is at high risk of getting seriously ill from it. Most of the info I am seeing claims the new variant is more transmissible but much less likely to kill a person. The day or two right before Christmas break at my garnd daugters school, several kids started getting it. They let them all out early Friday because they got worried it was spreading. She is in first grade so her school is 1-5. My prayers for your DIL's family. You try to have a very Merry Christmas just the same.
