Charles,

Got my February American Rifleman issue and I find no ballot.

I too received my magazine sans ballot. Has anyone received theirs yet?

I spent 20 minutes searching the NRA website(s) and was unable to find anything about timing (or any other details) for the BOD election. :grumble

Since my previous post drew no response, I PM'ed Charles to find out.

He has since learned that the ballots are to be in the March issue.

Meanwhile, check the January/February issue of TSRA Sportsman, and tell me who the guy is that's pictured on page 11. ;-)

I just received my March "American Rifleman" today and filled out the ballot. The 1st couple of votes weren't tough-#1. Charles Cotton, #2. Tom Selleck (Sorry Tom, I love you Brother but Charles is the man!), and after that it was reading the bios.

Anyway, I am thankful for all of the effort that you and everyone else puts into fighting the fight, Charles. We truly apprciate it.

Board of Directors Voting Update

For the 24 of us on the Forum who took advantage of the recent upgrade to lifetime memberships, I telephoned NRA headquarters this afternoon and spoke to a helpful fellow named Bob.

He confirmed that, in response to the many new life members that came onto the roles the past few weeks, he had a memo in hand specifically addressing them. We do not have ballots in the current (March) issue of American Rifleman, but our names have already been pulled and ballots will me mailed to us separately over the next two weeks. He said we should have our ballots by April at the latest, and that we do not have to do anything special; the ballots are being sent automatically to the new, active, life members.

So I'll sit tight and wait for my ballot...then vote for Charles. ;-) I'd say if you are one of the new lifers and you have not received a ballot by the first week of April, then that would be the time to call National at 877-672-2000, option 3, and ask about it.

Joaquin Jackson was not on the ballot. Not sure what that means.

If Ted Nugent was on the ballot, I overlooked him. I would be sorry if that is the case.

I mailed mine off with votes just for Charles and Tom Selleck.

Well, bummer in both cases.

I was speaking hypothetically, since my 8+ years of membership have apparently been spotty enough to not count as "continuous"; what can I say, renewal comes at Christmas time. I always renew, just not always on time. There was no ballot in my March "America's 1st Freedom".

I've seen previous ballots, and even though I keep current on gun rights issues, I didn't recognize the vast majority of names. I have to wonder how many votes are cast for people the voters have never heard of.

This just in from the Texas State Rifle Association:
Dear NRA Member,

If you are a voting member of the National Rifle Association, you may have already received your ballot for this year's election, or are about to receive one. Please note that the Texas State Rifle Association is endorsing two candidates for reelection, and asks that you support those candidates.

Charles Cotton is a member of the TSRA Legislative Committee, and has long served as an advocate for gun owners in Texas. As an attorney, he has been an invaluable resource in assisting to craft laws that protect gun owners, and to advance their rights. He is the founder of Texas CHL Forum, a discussion board of Texas gun laws and issues.

J. William "Bill" Carter is a former member of the TSRA Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Although he recently moved to Kentucky to be near his children, Bill is a Texan at heart. Former head of the United States Border Patrol, Bill was a valued leader for the Texas State Rifle Association for his several years on the board. He has also brought that same level-headed leadership to the board of the National Rifle Association.

Please consider casting your votes for these two TSRA members in the NRA election, and ensure that Texas' representation on the NRA Board remains strong.

Sincerely,

James W. Dark
Executive Director, Texas State Rifle Association
Member, NRA Board of Directors
