Don't laminate it yet. Governor Perry has stated that CHLs should be able to carry everywhere in the State and I know some folks who are going to work hard to make his opinion the law of the land. :thumbs2:

He better hurry. IMHO he will be gone on the next election if he decided to run again. Then, Kay Bailey Hutchison can take over. :clapping: Just checked and Perry got 39.3 % of the votes in the last election. That means 60.7% voted for someone else. That is not a good sign.
A lot of people thought that in 2006 election and it didn't happen. It was a six way race with Republican and Republican-leaning votes split between Friedman and Keeton - Rylander - Strayhorn. Democrat Chris Bell only managed to get 29.78% of the vote.

The real question is whether Hutchison can carry the primary and I seriously doubt that. She's been pretty good on our votes, but she has some baggage. More importantly, the Republicans with money, even her chief supporter, don't want to to run against Perry. If she does, he gets the money and she doesn't.

Texas has never had a better Governor on the gun issue. In fact, we've only had two that supported us; Gov/President Bush and Gov. Perry. Perry has done two things I don't like, but I can say that about every politician I've ever supported. Perry has gone way out on political limbs supporting us and pro-gun bills. If gun owners are not loyal to a Governor who has done as much as Governor Perry has done for us, then we can't expect loyalty from anyone else.

I know quite a few folks that are livid about the TTC and swear they will not vote for Perry. I really doubt any of us will stop the TTC.

I will focus my efforts on RKBA next election. I really think next year will be a bonus year for us if we all stick together and form one united front, no matter what the RKBA issue is and our personal feelingson the subject.

I just think that if he is ever challenged by a viable candidate other than a self proclaimed Jewish Cowboy or One Tough Grandma, there may be a different outcome. Plus, the guy backed Rudy :headscratch , but that did not last long as we now know how that worked out for him.

Glad the post got the juices going as I thought it would.

I can agree. In fact, I hope we make enough progress to make our opposition have to back up, before they attempt to gain more lost ground. I welcome any RKBA legislation that gains us ground.

That's where our side makes a lot of political mistakes. We need to start asking for things we don't expect to get. You know the anti-civil-rights groups do that so we need to ask for more too. Asking for more is a time honored strategy in negotiation. Let's set ourself up to negotiate a win instead of a loss.

If we ask for the sun and the moon, giving us the moon will seem a reasonable compromise in comparison.

Put the people who want to violate our civil rights on the defensive. Attack their immoral position.

Next year we need to write Mothers Day editorials about CHL by women to help KEEP MOM SAFE.
We're here. With gear. Get used to it.

That was the whole point of the "Businesses should not be allowed to bar CHL" thread I started awhile back. If you aim for the stars and miss, you just might hit the moon.
