Actually if you were a business guy the first thing you'd do is hire more people...if you could. In another post someone got the numbers, 65,000 chl's and change last year, 42,000 and change through April of this year. Mine took 83 days or so. In the end I wanted it ASAP!!! But heck I don't even have a holster yet. I think I got mine like many of the extra numbers in line this year....the election!
It'll happen, just wait, calling, emailing, IMO doesn't do any good but slow them down.

How good of a friend is that or what did she have to do or who does she know?? (kidding!!) . Not saying it isn't true..but I find 3 weeks and a class taken in the last few months hard...errr REAL hard to believe.

What makes it worse is watching folks who got in line after us getting processed ahead of us.

Heres my Idea... How about they dont get paid until they complete the license. They sure dont have a 90 backlog on cashing the $140.00 checks or money orders. Also if there is such a "Problem" heres an idea, hire more people and oh yea they dont need to be Cops, lets say for the "Grunt" work lets hire some part timers, heck I'll even Volunteer my time and go enter some license info to help......... Sorry thats my rant for the evening, I think my meds are kicking in now and I fee l much better!!!!!

ok i got one for you.. i recieve a letter stating that there was something wrong with my background check.. i listed something i did as a minor on my app just to cover all bases. they could not find it on the fbi background check. so i had to go to the police dept and have them do a check for me. then had to fax it in. is this not their job? why did i pay them $140. they should pay me for doing the back ground check.

. then i thought i will do anything to speed up the process. by the way they cant dig into the records without a court order anyway. ok now i feel better lol

According to the statute it is supposed to be 60 days. I heard on the news earlier this month that CHL apps are up 40% this year. Do you think it might have anything to do with 2 of the candidates for Prez?

Or maybe all three candidates.

CHLs aren't the only ones being affected by a mass influx of applications.
I submitted my Form 1 (to make SBR) and a Form 4 (bought a silencer) to the NFA branch at ATF about mid May. I'm counting on abou 6 weeks before I get them back, whereas I hear this time last year the forms were getting approved in as little as 2-3 weeks.

It is SUPPOSED to be 60 days.
Sadly, there doesn't seem to be any mechanism forcing them to honor that.

Well, misery loves company ; so here's my timeline:
Texas CHL Timeline
On-line Application: 09/FEB/2008
Passed Class: 23/FEB/2008
Application Rec'd in Austin: 28/FEB/2008
Status: Packet Mailed to Applicant: 28/FEB/2008 - 29/MAR/2008
Status: Processing Application Status: 29/MAR/2008 - 31/MAY/2008 (to date)
Day Count: ~92 Days (close enough at this point.........)
Keep checkin' the website for an update. Haven't called them to inquire - plenty of folks have done that already with mixed success.
I would suggest that the State of Texas refund a percentage of the application fee based on how long over the "deadline" they miss the mark by.
Wishing each of you a shorter wait than you expect.....wishing the State of Texas would follow the law (just like we're doing!!)

Wife and son applied and it has been right at 60 days and have heard nothing. I did complain to Gov. Perry's ofice, State representative, and state Senator. Rec'd call today from the State Senator's office (aid) and said they will have someone check on it. He stated that they (DPS) are not even opening mail for 30 days.
I pointed out that is not true. They cashed my checks within 7 days, so they apparently do have time to open and grab the checks and cash checks. It was pointed out that the applications are way up. I explained that I understood that and I had one question. He asked what my question was. I asked, "What is the Senator doing about the delays and how can he improve the service so that applications can be completed within 60 days as required by Law". There was a long silence on the other end.
I pointed out that I'm upset with the process delays. However, on a bigger picture I want the Senator to work and help aleviate the problems not for just me but all CHL applicants. I asked that he pass that message on to the senator. I'm sure he ran into his ofice after we hung up.
