FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

True, but had the firing pin spring been stronger then I don't believe the gun would have fired, and I don't tempt fate so I installed a heavier spring,This is the first time I ever dropped a handgun and it was pretty excitinglunchbox wrote:the flaw was dropping a fine weaponDoubleJ wrote:You're not allowed to say that JMB's design had any flaws around here....NcongruNt wrote:....the issue is a flaw in the design....
It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them

Very glad everything turned out OK overall. I have kids around the house (not to mention the wife), so hearing about an ND such as yours is a wake-up call for me to be extra careful when carrying around the house, especially given my immense respect for the lethality of the.45 caliber round. My primary carry is a Glock and, if I'm not mistaken, they are tested specifically to withstand drops, so hopefully it would not go bang hitting the tile. Regardless, I will do my best to not tempt fate.
As for your weapon being an RIA, I almost picked one up (a compact version) at last weekend's show. I thought it to be a fine weapon for the price and additionally thought that the newer 1911s were drop-safe, so I had no qualms considering it for purchase. Your experience makes me now wonder, though.
Anyway, take care. I hope your tub, tile, and ankle are all healed quickly.

Certainly more eventful than the one time I've dropped a handgun. Mine was with my PA-63 in a shoulder holster where the retention strap snap hadn't quite snapped all the way. I had been walking around the range with it that way for quite a while prior, as well as during the drive to my dad's house. I was standing and talking to my stepmother, and turned to say something, only to have it fall out of the holster and onto the floor with a loud "clack!" that only an aluminum-framed gun can make.dukalmighty wrote: True, but had the firing pin spring been stronger then I don't believe the gun would have fired, and I don't tempt fate so I installed a heavier spring,This is the first time I ever dropped a handgun and it was pretty exciting
