I sent an email to Representative Gary Elkins in the 135 District of Harris County earlier today
so i doubt that would help but it's worth a shot right?

You never know when a boring day might strike and they're just looking for something to do.

I have had a very positive response from my representative (Rep. Taylor). I think the more corespondance leglislators get from CHLs the better. It lets them know that there is an active participation in the leglislative process from CHLs in their district. Hopefully making them aware of the effect that CHL related bills have on thier seat.

Got a call from someone in Rep. Wooley's office yesterday, saying that there were a number of people who had contacted them with the same issue (excessive delays) and that they'd asked the DPS to expedite the processing of my app, and that I should get a call from someone at DPS this week.

Today, right before I left the office, i got a call from a Heather (?) at DPS, who said that she had my CHL in her hands and was sending it out today. :woohoo She said they "had some missing background information, and had to contact someone to get it", but I think it's more along the lines of "a call from my Representative sped things up". Anyway, Day 163 so far, and I hope to get the license in the mail by this weekend if I'm lucky.

This is very frusterating!

I received a call from the office of my Texas Senator (Dan Patrick) today. The lady said that she had contacted DPS regarding my CHL. I told her I had not intended on contacting anybody and that I was just going to wait. But also, that other people had been expedited in front of me. She said she understood and that it was no trouble for her.

Within 30 minutes, I received a call from a DPS administrator who said she was personally requesting a field report from Harris County and she would expedite my CHL to me as soon as it was cleared. Because of the holiday, she said it would probably be next week.

While I am happy for the people from Harris County who received theirs after applying in September or so, this is pretty ridiculous that you MUST contact your representative to get anywhere.

I won't hold my breath until its in my hands. But if its true, good luck to everybody else still waiting. Contact your representatives if you haven't.

Wow, I just received a sorta similar call from Tammy @ the Austin DPS.
She said she would have my plastic expedited as well and she will know the results on Monday or Tuesday of next week.
Next Day Air Mail from Austin to Houston if i wanted it.

Wife is at 245 days today. Still getting the Ike excuse. It was hard enough convincing her she needed to get one, but this is getting pretty ridiculous.

that is ridiculous
I would contact a senator and update him on the situation.
I hope your wife receives her plastic soon.

Contacted senator and governor's offices back in October, with canned response. Will probably throw another letter out before the end of the year, and then might place a call to the local media.
