I am very pro-Glock these days as its the only make I own. But I've come to the conclusion that any reliable handgun you commit to train with can do the job. Which is to say, if I went out and bought a few XD's and shot the heck out of em and trained as much as I have with my Glocks -then one day I'd look up and see I was shooting the XD as well as I ever shot any other make.

Frankly it was the Glock that drove this point home, as I was a diehard 1911 guy. I put in the time (a few years in LE) with the Glock and realized one day that I shot combat style training with the Glock as good as I ever did with my 1911s. But the Glock was lighter, didn't rust, was reliable under the worst conditions, and cost easily half what my 1911s did.

One small advantage I do think the glock has over every handgun made today -is simplicity. You can literally order every part except the frame right off the internet and easily install and maintain your pistols without ever gracing the doors of a gunsmith or contacting Glock. :hurry:
