I agree... I never meant to say that I, mylsef would every do something like that. It was merely an academic discussion that spiraled off of a comment about deadly force use to prevent a suicide and how deadly force does not always equal causing death. Sas to not

too much I leave it with, I would never think about doing it, it was more of do you have the right to do so. I would leave it to the professionals as they get paid the big pucks for it !

So with that. . back to lurking and keeping my mouth shut

Deadly force does not necessarily have to do with shooting. Breaking someones arm is deadly force.
"Deadly Force" means force that is intended or known by the actor to cause, or in the manner of its use or intended use is capable of causing death or serious bodily injury. - PC 9.014
The Penal Code states
PC 9.24(b) - A person is justified in using both force and deadly force against another when and to the degree he reasonably believes the force or deadly force is immediately necessary to preserve the others life in an emergency.
So if someone is trapped in a burning car and the only way you can get them out is by breaking their arm (deadly force) then by this law you can do so if YOU BELIEVE their life is in imminent danger.
As for funny stories in my class...The instructor himself was pretty funny but I don't think we really had anything funny happen.
