I am awaiting my app it was received 24FEB09. Now I know this is soon to be asking the questions and like every one said hurry up and wait. Here it goes, I am applying in Galveston county (I was informed that it was back logged due to ike) for the back ground investigations I have 4 addresses in the last 5 years 1 in California 2 in New Mexico and 1 ( current ) here in Texas. My question for that is do they do a back ground another catch i am not a resident of Texas. I am a current New Mexico resident applying with a NM Drivers License applying for a residence CHL. Yet another catch I am active duty US Coast Guard. Now my reasoning is that the process will be extremely slow for me maybe with the military active duty status speed it up. Also me not being a resident of the state of Texas would calling the state rep do me any good? any one have information, comments or advice?

me either, my packet was received 14 days ago and im running to the mailbox everyday like its already going to be there
I'm about ready to start calling somebody. It's been 14 days since they received my packet and they haven't even deposited the check yet, which I'm assuming must clear before they'll even think about doing anything else with the packet.
Finally, my status changed to processing and they deposited the check 2/27/09

You and me both. I dropped mine off at the DPS office on 2/09, got a receipt for my check, and it STILL hasn't been deposited. When I called, the guy said, "The checks go to another building. It should clear soon." Right.

I know there was a holiday in there, but 10 business days should be enough, don't you think? Most of the dates I see are 3-6 days between receipt and deposit.

I'm glad I used a postal money order...I hate it when personal checks are "out" and not in the pipeline.

Well, it's ABOUT FRAKKIN' TIME!
Finally! My check has posted to my bank account. Now, It'll only be another 2-3 weeks for my PIN to arrive, I'm sure.
The waiting can now begin in earnest. More earnester. Earnestlyer. Whatever the right term is.

As a clergyman, I have a sense of the term "eternally." Unfortunately, government bureaucracy tends to rival Our Lord in it's long-term view! Still, like you, I hope the right term isn't eternally!

lol
but in spite of government "perks" ,your employer has a much better long range retirement plan
and a better track record on keeping promises
