My Kimber Ultra Carry has been great from day one and using only factory mags. I have shot reloads and factory through it with no issues.

One more question. I have never owned a handgun with laser sights. I am looking at the ultra crimson carry II. Any comments or opinions on the Crimson Trace Laser Grips? Accuracy level...useful range...etc.

I have shot a couple 1911's and like them but that first part is kind of a bummer. The HK45 and HK45C operate the same in principality, but of course look different. I'm thinking about a 45 but which one?

I am finding myself wanting one of these more and more ... I couldn't be happier with my USPc

Maybe ill get rid of my 1911 in favor of one of these ... I doubt it though

Well...I picked up my new gun today. I went with the eclipse ultra carry. For one it was in stock and the Crimson ultra carry has a 6-8 week wait. I could have run all over the place looking for the crimson, but i think I like the eclipse better anyhow. I keep holding it and staring at it. Now I need to get to the range and break it in. Thanks for all the great advice on here. It helped me with my decision. :cheers2:

Well shoot...I need to ask for more advice. I have been carrying a Kahr PM9 IWB at three oclock. It is small so it hides well. I am dietetically challenged :biggrinjester: ...meaning over weight. How are you folks carrying your Kimbers? It is much heavier than my PM9. What to do?

I would also like to know where you folks buy Wilson Magazines? What are you paying for them? I am thinking 8 rounders. Any reason to stick with a 7 round magazine?

There was an Ultra Carry II w/ laser on the Texas Hunting Forum (THF) last night. Jump on it, I don't have the geetus thanks to Richard Fuld and Lehman Bros. Holdings, Inc.

1911's are heavy, yes. Some frown at that while others appreciate the "solid" feel. Can you give more information as to what kind of holster, belt, etc? I carry mine IWB at 4:00 with a Comptac MTAC. I don't have a beltman or other CCW-friendly belt (ordered!), so I have to cinch my belt a little tighter than normal but it's still not bad.

Some people say that 8-rounders are not as reliable as 7-rounders because of that oh-so-minor difference in mag spring, but I have yet to experience any issues. Remember, though, that my opinion is solely limited to Kimpro Tac-Mags, and not WC. If reliability is not a factor, I would think the obvious choice from a CHL perspective is an 8-round magazine.

I've never had a problem with a Wilson Combat 8-round mag in my Kimber Custom II. I bought it at Cheaper Than Dirt in Fort Worth years ago. . . about $30 for the magazine.

I carry my Pro CDP II in a Crossbreed Super Tuck at three o'clock. I too am dietetically challenged, only real problem I have is that I sit in front of a computer all day and the beaver tail starts biting into my lovehandle after lunch :biggrinjester:

I already jumped. I would look but don't want to suffer buyers remorse. Just lie to me and tell me it was way over priced so I can feel good. ;-)

The 8 round mags are what I want....I just wanted to be sure nobody has any problems with them. Most of the ones I am finding online are about 36-38 bucks now so i guess the prices are about right.

I have a Crossbreed Super Tuck IWB for my Glocks (same one fits all) and like it. I don't have a special belt as the PM9 is so small it really doesn't pull down much. Maybe it is time to get one. A couple fellers at B.T. in Plano told me they carry theirs in the small of the back. Small of back sounded uncomfortable to me so I am happy to read that 3 oclock works fine. My glock 27 digs into the love handles sometimes.

Again...thanks for the help. Maybe I can just purchase one holster this time and be in good shape. :coolgleamA:

Okay, now that you've got the Kimber out of your system, you need to look for a 4" Springfield XD .45 Service w/ Thumb Safety. If you can find one, it should run you less than $550 and you can add laser sights and/or night sights and/or a bayonet, etc. later when your ship comes in.

We have bought Wilson Combat 47D mags from T&G Sales. They're nearly always at the gun show in the George R Brown convention center in Houston. You might try googling the business name or hit a big gun show in DFW.

oops, looks like their site is down for maintenance.

Darn my first post was eaten.

I have this exact model but pre night sights. I acquired it with the finger groved grip option. It is choice.

1. It has never jammed and I practice with cheap ammo of all kinds. It is utterly reliable.
2. It feels good in the hand. I have shot Colts hogleg 1911s, Kimbers, and Paras. This feels the best. It is also small. Its barely bigger than a Bersa .380 is similar to the new baby Taurus 9mm.
3. It is accurate. I can empty the clip in a 5.5 in target at 17 yds without fail and I’m no Cooper.
4. It has special clips. Use those. If you need more order them directly from Kimber –for the carries. Always get OEM mags, even though they cost more. Again this puppy has never jammed.
5. It does kick like a mule due to its weight. Having said that you can double tap at under 7 yds about 2 shots a second at a body target.
6. I love 9mms and .380s. But there’s nothing to compare to being able to throw .45 JHPs downrange in an emergency, from a true concealed carry sized pistol.

It’s the weapon I reach for when I hear a noise and think I may need to protect myself or my family. Period.

I took her to the range today. I fired 200 rounds of WWB without a single malfunction. Then, to give it the ultimate torture test, I fired fifty rounds of....(purists need to close their eyes here)....Wolf through it. Man that is some filthy ammo. I think I saw my kimber gagging a couple times, but she ate each and every round without a problem. Over all...I have to say I love this darn gun :thumbs2: .
