I figure that if someone has to ask me this type of question they don't know me well enough to be allowed in my home.

I hope they're also asking if the neighbors have any cars or pools because motor vehicle accidents and drownings cause many more accidental deaths than firearms.
Even accidental falls are responsible for more deaths than accidental shootings, so they should encourage people to lock up stairs and stepladders along with guns.

Now Bart, you know the anti's don't want to hear that. That would be a lot of pools to fill in and a lot of cars to crush, let alone banning 2 story and higher buildings and changing light bulbs.

Is there a gun in your house? What kind of question is that? No, it's out back grilling steaks. You should start asking them how much they're gross income is or how many times they refinanced their house. People just need to go back to minding their own business.

Children are at many times more at risk of drowning or being killed by their parents than "by a gun" in my house:

I wonder if "San Antonio's National Ask Day Education Campaign" was started by George Soros or his ilk?
It rings loudly of lefty...
Or perhaps, a well intentioned, but misinformed, non-political group? (unlikely, but who knows)
I know a few who just love the nanny-state idea, because heck, folks need to be told how to conduct their lives - regarding everything. Now, stop eating that cheeseburger and swilling down soft drinks and slurp up your tofu, or else...

Learning from this board and elsewhere how some people store their guns laying about on tables ready for action etc (your right, not questioning that) I'd have to say that if my young child is going to be running around your house semi-supervised or unsupervised, I'd want to know if you have guns and if so are they locked up. Since my child will be in your home, I absolutely feel this is my right to ask this and know the answer.
You let your kids go into other people's homes where you have not been first?
I would say if you have to verbally ask the question, you're not doing your job as a parent....
