Yes, it actually did make a very noticeable difference - about exactly what you would expect going from 14 lbs to 10 lbs should feel like, or about a 29% reduction in pull.

If money was an issue, I would pick Beretta PX4 Storm as second choice priced in $500-$550 range.

HK's are definitely worth the money. I've heard shouts here about Glocks this and Berettas that. If you look at HK's be prepared to spend some dough. However it's all relative. $800-900 on a 1911 isn't much at all.
