Back on topic...Ok...

One of the other issues being discussed here is the fact that the gun was purchased before the GF or significant other had a chance to really get a feel for the gun...

One of the things I leaqrned from women is this...Let them try on the shoe first...That may be a little difficult to do in cases like this, but I have never had a problem with a participant here, who was within driving distance to borrow a gun (type) and go throw a box through it to see how it feels and works, before I go buy my own, or mention it to the "Wife Unit" for her consideration...

The very first gun she ever bought, without any input or comment from me was "her" Taurus PT24/7 in 9mm...I'll say it again, that was the wisest purchase I have ever seen her make...And it was worth it...$357 and change and she was out the door...Of course she had her CHL and that made the process (we all know) much easier...Yes, I plunked down the cash for it...

Let them get a feel for it before anything...If it doesn't feel good in the hand before they shoot it, they never will, and you'll end up with yet again, another safe queen, thay you will probably not shoot either...

I'm all for arming women...Makes it easier to dance with them... ;-)

Let them make the choice...The quickest way to discourage another person who has an inkling to want to shoot is force them to try something...Let them decide...Safety safety safety and all that as well...

I'm just glad I didn't have to go buy that Les Baer Thunder Ranch .45 she liked so much when someone here let her shoot one... :thumbs2: "rlol"

Wife Unit skips calibers like its a big game...She will never get used to .40, so it never really becomes a point of discussion...She will shoot the heck out of 9mm and .45 and I am ok with that limitations...She only needs to back me up...Or vice versa...

And yes, just to be fair, the genders can be reversed in these cases...I believe the base philosophy can be applied here as well...

We need more shooters anyway...

This is why we guys need to stop buying the pistols we like for our girls. We need to find out what fits their hands, body, and life style to keep them involved. The only thing my wife likes to shoot is my short-barrel, five-shot revolver, so that's what she shoots. If she wants something else later, then we'll get it.

I want to see more women involved in our rights, so don't push them into something they don't like.

Let's get everyone involved in shooting and getting a CHL to protect our rights and make the world a safer place.
