What part of this great State do you hail from?

I am in Texas City, just north of Galveston. Originally from Ohio (hence the "Yankee" moniker), but have lived in TC since 2005. I am utterly surprised this site isn't blocked at work, but this is not a complaint....
I'm looking forward to carrying my 9mm S&W M&P Compact, but really should have sprung for the .45...LOL

Welcome to the forum TexasYankee, I too am a transplant from the colder regions. Keep an eye out, you might come across the 45cal version in a Black Friday Sales flyer somewhere.

Hello all.
I am new to the Forum, so I thought I would post my status here in Purgatory.
Recieved DPS Packet 11-2 09
CHL Class 11-11-09
Mailed Packet 11-19-09
Now I wait!

OMG! Just checked my status. It says "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"
Could I have set the record for the shortest CHL issue? I'll wait until I actually see the permit, but wow that was fast!

For those of you keeping score - that is 23 days from mailing in the application to complete and just 16 days from processing application to complete. And just 26 days after taking the CHL.
The holidays might slow down issuing my plastic, but I should be Wally Walking soon!
What do I attribute the short processing time to?
Lived more than 5 years in Fort Bend County
Never arrested or any problems with the law
Ditto- alcohol, drugs, etc.
Filled everything out online before taking CHL class
Used FAST for fingerprints before taking CHL class
Professional passport photos
And last but not least - joined texaschlforum.com

It just keeps getting better. The Crossbreed Holster I ordered on Friday (11/20) arrived in the mail today! Does anybody know why the Wild Cherry Lifesavers?
And the answer to the question you are probably asking yourself is, yes. At least for a couple of days in the house until it is broken in and I get used to it.

WHOA! My hubby's status just changed to approved and license issued!! That's 28 days from application mailed to approval! Only 24 days from the time they received it! We are VERY pleased and impressed. We thought we'd be lucky to get it before Christmas but it looks like we'll have it the first week of December at the latest!
This forum does indeed bring good luck...
Now the countdown to my 21st birthday begins...

269 days until our next Waiting Room visit!

Congrats Randomburst! I would guess nobody is working at DPS on CHLs on Thanksgiving. So likely the status changed yesterday. By my count that makes 7 or 8 forum members who were all approved on Wednesday. Kudos to DPS for pushing applications out the door!

Thanks much. I actually just went back and read some previous posts - congrats on your (even speedier) CHL issuance! Hope you have as much fun breaking in your holster as I imagine my husband is going to have breaking in his holster too. I got it for him as a gift since he had applied for the CHL and now he has an excuse to break it in with the impending plastic in the mail...;) He jumped up and down and giggled like a little girl when I told him his status had changed.

Um, I don't think men who "giggle like a little girl" are allowed to wear firearms -- but perhaps we can make an exception in your case.
He'll just have to watch his behavior in the future...
I'm kidding, of course. I had a little celebration myself yesterday. (Though there were no 'little girl' actions.)
