Another Round Rocker here too.
I think from the thread you are still undecided on carry piece. I carry a Kahr P40 or S&W/M&P 40compact depending on clothing/weather, etc. If you want to try either I am in the neighborhood and Red's is nearby. :thumbs2:
That is a very generous offer! I will take you up on it! Like LT said, I shot his Kahr and it had a lot of bite, but maybe I can handle it better now. Only way to find out is to try, huh! Thanks for the welcome!

Navy Tech wrote:Do you mean what have I picked as my CC? officially nothing. I have the P6 and am proficient with it...so that is what I will use until I get more experience and can make an educated purchase for that particular piece. I want to shoot the Springfield XD Sub-Compact in 9mm and see how that feels. My issue has been finding a small enough grip, and the single stack on my P6 played into that issue perfectly. So, I am still searching.
HI Navy Tech, welcome to the forum! And thank you for your service to your country. :patriot:

As far as choosing the proper gun for you, have you looked at the great article in The Cornered Cat? If you're not familiar with that website, it's one by women made FOR women. It's great.

Here's the portion that address choosing a gun with the proper fit for you:

You are most welcome Mastadon. It was an honor to serve, and is something I take a fair amount of pride in. I am the only female in my family to serve, and am the only PERSON in my family to enlist, and actually make it to my EAOS without some issue leading to a less than honorable discharge. I used to tell my father that I am the only son my family ever raised! While I was not in a combat unit, I was forward deployed during Desert Storm on a ship in Saudi...my ship was supporting the USS Kennedy Battle Group. I love that the Navy allowed me to see some of the world. My only regret is that I didn't stay in and take my career as far as I know I could have.

My wife luvs her XD9. However, the new Glocks have interchangeable backstraps, so I wouldn't rule them out for the ladies.

I shot a few Glocks during the past few months...and am going to be entering a competition with MTICop in May I think...I have not ruled ANY make or model out, as there are so many I need to try and have NO experience with at all.

Thanks for the feedback!

I was a DS...on the USS Puget Sound for Desert Storm, based out of Norfolk. A school and C school were in Valejo, CA, then I picked the Sound because I wanted to "see the world" and women weren't allowed on carriers yet. I wish I had been able to do a tour on the Lincoln or the Washington. My system (Snap-1) was on them. Coulda shoulda woulda, huh.

I like the Sigs too, because of reliability and the decocker(what scared me away from Glocks and Kahrs). If you don't know what a P-239 is you should check it out if you plan to stay with a 9mm.

BTW Navy Tech welcome aboard from another old sailor, Vietnam Era. I was stationed on board the USS Newport News CA148 out of Norfolk, VA. I don't think they have my rate anymore Interior Communications Electrician (IC). Got out in '71 as E-5. Did one Vietnam cruise 1968 to 1969, One North Atlantic, Up and down the east coast a couple of times, and one into the Gulf of Mexico to New Orleans. All except Vietnam was called show the flag cruising we carried a Admiral 2nd Fleet Stateside and 7th Fleet in Vietnam.
