I prefer to go Older School and strap on my "Shootin' Irons".

Of course maybe I shouldn't wear my Kahr in the low-slung belt...

As young guys quite a number of us used "cool guy" jargon. For some it's part of growing up and being unafraid of sounding foolish.

Now, when I hear middle aged men mouthing "cool guy-speak" I roll my eyes.

Any credibility a grown man man may possess instantly vanishes in my eyes if he starts a sentence with "coooooooooool" or "dude" or "awwwwwwwwwsome".

If you're under 35, O.K. Mr. Hipster, it's cooooooooool to say "awsome" every other sentence or pepper your sentences with "dude" or whatever silly adolescent-speak you care to utter, but a grown man using such jargon sounds more than a little out of place...

Now, get off my lawn and take your gat with you!

P.S. Shootin Iron is a perfectly cromular word.

Weird Al in "Canadian Idiot":

They all live on donuts and moose meat
And they leave the house without packin' heat
Never even bring their guns to the mall
And you know what else is too funny
Their stupid monopoly money
Can't take 'em seriously at all

....

Always hear the same kind of story
Break their nose and they'll just say sorry
Tell me what kind of freaks are that polite?
It's gotta mean they're all up to something
So quick before they see it coming
Time for a preemptive strike

I am 40+ and we refer to it as "strapped" or "sporting the love gun".

I have called my pistol a "heater" but I am a big fan of old movies from the Bogart days of film.

I say "sporting", or "sporting the luv gun" is more fun and a bit tounge-in-cheek. I will stick to that.

I am not sure I could ever call it a 'love gun'. That has an entirely different meaning to me.

This whole thread is twisting my melon, man.

I would have to say that even though I am fast approching my forty tweleth birthday I still find myself amazed at how quickly words that I grew up understanding meant one thing now mean the total opposite!

So I guess on that note bad night eveyone. Hope all your dreams are sick. "rlol"
