That's what ya get sometimes when you find a "deal" on mags at the pawn shop. Oh well.
Same. My UCII has only ever had 2 issues, both premature lockbacks. The second time it did it, I realized it was the same magazine as the first time.
Removed that mag from the rotation, and it has never happened since.

That's what I get for buying cheap noname 10rd mags at a gun show. They were only ever intended for range use anyways. Carry mags are exclusively Kimber or Wilson Combat.

Oddly enough, the mag that I had problems with was a Wilson Combat mag....7 rounder. I disassembled, and the thing has been modified by someone....whoever pawned it, I'm assuming.

It's okay though, I'm going throw it in the "to be traded" pile. The pile consists of a few scopes, a handful of mags, a couple of holsters I don't have pistols for anymore, knives, so on and so forth. I'll go to the pawnshop one day and unload all of it.

If the previous owner's "customization" consisted of messing with either the follower or the spring, you might be able to restore reliable function by simply replacing the altered part if the magazine tube itself is still in spec. That'd give you a great return value for your discounted pawn shop investment.

I'm not being critical of 1911's per se.

Having been a 1911 owner (70/80's vintage Colt Commander, if I remember correctly) I had a slew of problems, so I eventually switched to a Glock - problems with it: zero after thousands of rounds.

Bowing in the direction of beauty, 1911's are beautiful, but dependable and problem free...?

I'm very much hoping that technology being what is, the newest crop of 1911's will be just as dependable as Glocks, XD's and other new style semi-autos.

If it turns out that the newest crop of 1911's are just as dependable I will buy a one.

I'm a fan of beauty too.
I have about 500 rds through my 3" Kimber Ultra CDP. I had the recoil guide rod break inside the first 50 rnds (bad part) and Kimber replaced it at no charge. No FTF/FTE/FT go booom even with the broken rod. Shoots tight groups and double taps like a dream.

I've only put about 500 rounds through my Kimber, which I purchased back in March. However so far I have had absolutely ZERO problems.

Are you my long lost brother. Started with S&W revolver 357 mag then went to a XD 45 in 4 inch. Love both guns but I really hate double action or long single action trigger pulls just me. Finally while looking for a nice single action trigger pull tried a1911. It was like the heavens opened up when I first touched her. I now carry a Kimber CDP Pro 4 inch with night sites and lazer grip I installed. I agree talk about a Tac driver. First time out I coverd half dollar hole with 16 shots at 25 yards no bull it's that accurate. Never any Ftf or jams after hundreds of rounds. I use Wilson mags because I believe in them very high quality and I pick up one extra round without any part of the mag hanging out of the bottom. I feel the 1911 is the best semi auto ever made. I've shot all the big names and for me it's the best. Take care.

My first was a 5" Springfield XD, and I still have it. My favorite carry for a long time was the 4" XD, but I wanted a slimmer option, and started the 1911 hunt.

I think I'm set for a long time. I can't see how it can get much better than what I've got now.

Of course, I've got to get different grips, probably going to have night sights put on......constantly get interested in new holsters....

I'm thinking of putting Punisher grips on it.
