Yep, limited lifted at the Bmt WalMart.

First off, I think you may want to rethink the statement in red. Only crazy people and criminals need to be able to purchase more than 1 gun per month. See how easily this mentality can be abused?Embalmo wrote:So the limit was 6 boxes per customer, and what do they have stocked, maybe 30 boxes? So now those of us who couldn't be satisfied with 600 rounds of .380 can now purchase all 30 boxes if we get there first. 6 boxes is more than any non-hoarder/non-scalper needs in one day. The only reason I bought bought 5 boxes last time at Academy was because I thought I might not see it again in several months.
Storing more nuts than necessary is a common (moronic) compulsion and shooters are no exception. Just look what happens when a 24 hour freeze is forecasted-The shelves at HEB are emptied and those of us who want to buy a weeks worth of shopping are out of luck. Don't give me any free market arguments-I guarantee that if Academy follows suit, none of us will ever see another box of .380 as long as we live, except from internet scalpers who will charge quadruple. And what will happen to all that .380 ammo, it'll attract dust in someone's closet next to the majority of handguns that never get fired.
I hate hoarding, and I especially hate that I can't just buy a box of ammo and go shooting with it. Red's won't even sell a box to shooters unless they buy or rent a gun from them.![]()

6 boxes isn't that much. 3 boxes is a pretty normal practice session for me, at least in my normal carry gun. It's not .380, but some folks' regular carry is a .380, the Bersa Thunder being a good example. If I were buying for myself and the wife, 6 boxes is certainly within reason for a trip to the range.Embalmo wrote:So the limit was 6 boxes per customer, and what do they have stocked, maybe 30 boxes? Boy oh boy, my ammo stash would make you MAD!Embalmo wrote:Perhaps neither of you guys are hoarding, but if Academy were to lift their limit it would be a victory for ideology (yay freedom), but a catastrophe for reality (no ammo available ever at fair market value). I do think we all know that this is not comparable to a limit on gun purchases; if it were, it would be a limit to due to availability and demand so that everyone would have a chance at gun ownership without some scalpers buying them all up. It's the same reason that there are limits to sale items at supermarkets, if there were none, the Mom and Pop stores would buy every item in stock and up the price in their stores; which is exactly what is/will happen. You can literally buy (if it were available) 600 rounds per day with the old limit. If you're shooting over 4200 rounds a week, you better learn to re-load.
The bottom line is that I just want my LCP to not become a paper for the sake of ideology. Ideally we would be able to buy 8 boxes when we want, but in reality we wouldn't be able to buy a single box. You can debate this all day, but we all know that limits maintain availability and the supply ain't increasing

I'd like to know that too. Do NATO rounds have to be ball ammo??surprise_i'm_armed wrote:Question posed to anyone:
In Wal-Mart yesterday I saw boxes of WWB that looked almost
like the usual WWB's, but these were marked "9MM, Full Metal Jacket, NATO".
Do boxes marked "NATO" contain rounds that are any different from
WWB simply marked "9MM, Full Metal Jacket" ?
Thanks in advance.

Yep and it wasn't .380 you carried out I guarantee you all and if Academy lifts their limits I can tell you how many boxes of .380 you'll be buying from now on-ZERO. Those of us who own .380s would like to continue shooting them and as I pointed out, "You can debate this all day, but we all know that limits maintain availability." Lifting the limits at Academy will do nothing but radically increase the shortage and that is every .380 auto owner's business.doc540 wrote:(to no one in particular)
No one knows how much I shoot, so no one has a clue how much I need.
In fact, how much I buy, how much I shoot, and how much I keep is nobody's business.
I will tell ya this, after this thread reminded me of ammo and WalMart, I called them to confirm their limit had been lifted.
While out for dinner, the Mrs and I stopped by WalMart and carried out two heavy sacks of more ammo for the home shelves.
Keep telling me how much I shouldn't have, and you'll keep reminding me to buy more.
If you're that concerned, perhaps you should look into investing in some reloading equipment?Embalmo wrote: Lifting the limits at Academy will do nothing but radically increase the shortage and that is every .380 auto owner's business.

And I think you're wrong. I wasn't even aware they had limits (I've seen no signs indicating such), and I don't buy the shelves out of .380 any time I see it. I just get a couple of boxes to put into my ammo stores at home, and continue on my way. In fact, they've had it the last three times I was there. I think the reason Wal-Mart is always out of .380 is because they only carry WWB, and increasing .380 production does not seem to be high on Winchester's priority list..Embalmo wrote:Yep and it wasn't .380 you carried out I guarantee you all and if Academy lifts their limits I can tell you how many boxes of .380 you'll be buying from now on-ZERO. So is that what you think we should all do? Completely write off access to factory loaded .380 ammo? Have you seen some of the online prices? I've seen $55 boxes of Blazer online and that is all that we'll have if every store allows their entire shipment to be transferred to one buyer instead of their customers.74novaman wrote:If you're that concerned, perhaps you should look into investing in some reloading equipment?Embalmo wrote: Lifting the limits at Academy will do nothing but radically increase the shortage and that is every .380 auto owner's business.
