It is so true. I happen to subscribe to the belief that it is actually a fear they have of losing power to us lower class citizens. In their minds they have everything and the rest of us want to take it from them. I think they have so much wealth and power, they are absolutely paranoid that we will take it from them if they don't hobble us in some way. They percieve guns as the power and authority we need to take them down.
Gnight ... I have to hit the sack.

So let's put it in context.
I posted my opinion that prohibiting a CHL from carrying in schools, at sporting events, etc. was a reason for righteous indignation.
Oldgringo replied and said "that there are probably pretty good reasons for the above three restrictions" on places someone with a CHL is prohibited from carrying.
jester responded that those places are not off-limits for off-duty LEO and therefore shouldn't be off-limits for CHL.

It sounds like Billy and Oldgringo agree in principle. They draw the line in different places where off-duty police should be allowed to carry BUT an off-duty trauma nurse with a CHL should be prohibited from carrying a handgun. Both of them support a double standard. They both said there's places where they trust a LEO with a gun where they don't trust a CHL with a gun. They just have different lists.

What irks me is that true liberals believe that only they can see the truth.
And they don't understand why no one else can.
So they will make us live by their truth if they can, like it or else.

Who doesn't?
If you or I believe X (whatever it is) and someone else believes NOT X, one of us has to be wrong.
Trying to keep the topic on "gun control," the truth is that it has never worked in a free society, not once.
The anti-RKBA people keep saying that one more "sensible gun control measure" will do the trick; but even in places where ordinary citizens are almost completely forbidden to have firearms, criminals and terrorists have firearms and also use other means of violence.

Maybe the anti-RKBA people should focus on inventing a time machine, so they can escape to a time before guns existed.
I suggest 500BC. Maybe a scenic beach on the Agean.

I don't see it as that black n white, yes or no, my way or the highway.
The currently running thread on OK OC is a great thread with positive debate.
My opinion is just that. I am always open to compromise; to be inclusive.
One of us does not have to be wrong.

One of us does not have to be wrong.
Reasonable people can disagree about certain issues, as long as they allow each other to make a choice.
The Bradys and their ilk deny that we have a right to keep and bear arms. They deny the right to carry a weapon in public or to freely acquire a weapon. No proposed "gun control" measure has been too much for them.
There is no compromise with this point of view.

.
I have to disagree here. Many of us are ex-military and are way better trained and experienced than a run of the mill LEO. Maybe I missed it but was someone claiming to want to be a LEO because they want to be able to protect temselves in a "Gun Free Zone"? A Home Ec teacher with her first handgun would be better defense than no one at all being armed when a nutjob breaks loose. I understand tempers run high because knuckleheads get carried away at sporting events but disarm the masses to try to prevent the one? My .02 is CHL can carry everywhere LEO does, period. LEO do a dangerous job, are underpaid and overworked but they are people just like the rest of us. I grew up in a PD, just like my child is now (after school, safest babysitters ever!)and know them quite well.

I agree but some people don't trust us to carry the same places as an off-duty or retired cop. It shows how much the Brady Campaign is alive and kicking, despite rumors to the contrary.

The Bradys are just the visible tip of the spear.
Anti-RKBA mentality runs wide and deep. It was here before Sarah Brady was born. It is almost universal among school administrators and bureaucrats in private organizations. It is widespread among police officers. It dominates most legislatures. You can see how difficult it was to get shall-issue concealed-carry in every state where it has been legalized. You can see how difficult it has been to get restrictions relaxed in Texas.
