For me it is about how the weapon feels in my hand. Most firearms are more acurate than myy ability to shoot anyway(just being honest). I have had one or two that just seemed to put rounds all over the place but that was more in my hunting rifles than hand guns. I have also never purchased a really cheap weapon.... usually mid level works for me.

All that being said, the Kimbers just always "feel" comfortable in my hand. I have held a Taurus and it just felt "bulky" to me. Like a shoe that didn't fit. This doesn't mean the Taurus is going to feel that way to everyone.... it is personal. I do like the craftmanship aspect of some of the Kimbers. i have a Raptor full size five inch and love it.

I would find a budget area that I want to stay in and work from there.... no matter the brand. then I would visit gun stores enough times to find one that felt comfortable when I hold it, research the net to see if there are more issues than normal. Then buy that weapon and you will be happy. Most folks..... or Bad guys aren't going to give extra points for what brand you own.

I have been known to buy a weapon for "pretty factor", but only if quality came with that.

PS...... I have held a couple springfeild 1911's lately and one that felt real nice turned out to have a 2200 dollar tag on it!!! I handed it back and told the salesman, "At least we know I have good taste in firearms". Wish I could afford it...LOL.

I have only had three 1911's. I had a Gold Cup Colt back in the late 80's...I still have a AMT hardballer.Just recently bought this
Kimber Crimson Ultra Carry...its like a piece of art to me...been flawless so far with 550 rounds ...very accurate. $980 plus tax.
