I keep thinking that maybe I need a smaller gun. After reading what you wrote, I'm thinking maybe I need to do a better job of finding ways to conceal the Sig. If I have to spend a little extra to do that well, it will be worth it if I'm ever in one of those situations.

Now, being able to legally carry, that's another issue entirely. It seems the State of Texas is bound and determined to never issue me a license.
I think of little guns as akin to mopeds. When you don't need to transport people or stuff, the weather's good, and you're not in a hurry, the moped fits the bill just fine. But when you're caught away from shelter as an unexpected thunderstorm rolls in, a full size car looks like a significantly better all around deal, and it works when the sun shines too.

The wait for plastic is sorta like waiting for water to boil. If you watch the pot, it takes forever. If you walk away, pay it no attention, and come back in a bit it's roilin' and boilin' big time.

Your license will appear in the mail before you know it.

I am still a newbie (had plastic for a couple months now) I carry almost everywhere. There are a few places I cannot carry, like at work, but in most of these cases gun is in the car. Thanks for sharing your story it makes me think.

Thinking like a thug:
When the guy pulled past you to the right, and attracted your attention with the taillight display, the "disembarked" thug is sneaking his way up to you in your blindspot from the left. You find yourself with a pistol pressed against the back of your left ear.

Glad it worked out for you, the big man upstairs was watching out for you that day.

Your OODA loop was going overtime...but your lack of firepower definitely left you at a disadvantage, you learned rule #1 that day in spades...NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT!

Did you ever do a followup with your buddy to find out if the security guard ran those thugs off?
