Out of all the guns I have handled with this feature I like the M&P's system the best, followed by Glocks, and then followed by Beretta's. For the record I do not own any of those at this time, and only owned the PX4 storm in the past. I absolutely hate Springfield's system (yet I own two XDm pistols).
Williamkevin has an M&P and my son has a Storm and we have an FN safe queen. They are great guns. Maybe I should revisit those as well.

Excellent ideas!! Thank you! Fortunately, I can kind of experiment with grips on the Pro Carry (if williamkevin will let me ;-) ) and I'm in no hurry to buy. I know it kind of didn't make any sense if the grip of the Kimber was too small, that I'd be going to an even smaller gun. I was thinking since the Kimber was out of contention, I'd get a smaller, cheaper, yet reliable gun that would be easier for me to conceal on those days when the H&K Compact was too big.

Thanks again for your feedback. It has been very helpful.

T Lynn, can't remember if you've mentioned Walthers? I really like my PPS 9mm for concealed carry. It disappears in a Crossbreed holster under a tucked shirt. Great little shooter too - easily at same level as even a full-size Glock inside 15 yards (haven't shot it beyond that).

If you've bonded with your USP (as I have mine), but need something a little smaller, how about a P-30? I have one of those and like it even better than the USP. With the various S, M, and L side panels and backstraps,it is probably one of the most ergonomic designs and can be made to fit most any hand. The P30 is pretty concealable for strong side carry with a good IWB (think shorts and T-shirt). The pistol is very accurate and shootable.

Some people do not like the "batman" grips, rough texture, and non-tritium night sights. The grip and texture are fine with me and I put on some Meprolights. It's an HK and it's plastic, what's not to like.
