Semi- or Revolver?

Yankee Girl - I like my belly band for carrying my Glock 26, but you need to be aware of a couple of things about it. First, you will probably wear it over an undershirt. It is a little rough to wear next to your skin. In the Texas summer, we are talking about 2 more layers of clothing. Needless to say, I have not worn it much in the past few months!
The other thing is that it has to be tight to stay put. You don't want it sliding around. If you have ever worn a back brace - that is how it will fit. Most guys I have talked to about it say they can't breath while wearing it. But, you know how guys are, and we won't go into that here.
Now, all that said - the belly band is my preferred on-body carry method. I also have nothing against purse carry. At work I carrymy S&W 642 in my purse, or laptop bag, or briefcase, just as often as I carry on the body.
The important thing is to find what works for YOU for most situations and carry consistently.

I prefer to use a Semi-Auto mainly because of capacity. Although I saw the LCR-357 and I think I might have to save my pennies...

Re: Semi- or Revolver?
Yankee Girl glad to have you here first off. I like seeing more females obtaining their CHL and I think its great. Im still trying to convince my wife to get her CHL but she has procrastinated somewhat. Heehee. As far as the Semi VS. revolver question I always have said focus more on what you can operate and shoot reliably. My wife favors a S&W 686 snubbie because its simple for her to use and she is not a shooter so its easy to pick up and use. She cannot operate the slide of semi's. Just lacks the strength to do it tho she could if she practices Im sure. In fact I have been talking to her about trying semi-autos but we will see what happens.
For her the 686 is what she likes because she can operate it and is pretty darn accurate with it.

Beautiful rig Carlson.
I have a 4" but have a hard time concealing it, especially in the summer.

Re: Semi- or Revolver?
What is usually meant by this is, if a BG is on top of you at point blank range, virtually all semi autos will fail to fire. It takes very little pressure on every semi auto I have tried this with to push the slide far enough back to prevent it from firing. This is "out of battery"At least three of them have come down firmly on the side of revolvers because of the possibility of a semi- getting "out of battery"
A revolver won't do that.
Since I know I'm going to need a fire-suit, let me explain, then I'll don the flame retardant suit.
** The following procedure is what I did, I do not recommend it to anyone.
I UNLOADED THE WEAPON, CHECKED IT AT LEAST THREE MORE TIMES, mimiced chambering a round so as to place the weapon in a ready to fire scenario, then placed the muzzle against a pillow and pushed as if a BG was on top of me, the weapon will not fire. I then hid the pillow from my wife.

One of the guys who's strongly pro-revolver suggested the very same test, and yes, I triple checked to be sure my Sig was empty before I did so.

By the same token, if a BG gets hold of your revolver by the cylinder during a struggle you will likely not be able to pull the DA trigger through (thus typically advancing the cylinder and cocking the hammer) to fire. Shooting from retention drills are a good idea regardless of the type of handgun.

I wasn't suggesting a revolver was immune from being prevented to fire. I was just attempting to be helpful in offering what I believed they meant about out of battery. There are multiple ways for a semi to be OOB, but when this type of discussion comes up, that is usually what people mean.
I agree with you on the retention drills.
