30 round aftermarket mags perhaps? USGI 30’s are hard to come by and pricey when you find them. Most of the aftermarket mags I’ve come across are junk.
Virtually all of the 15 round mags are USGI and have never given me any feed problems plus they are still decently priced.

What I fear the mostis that Barry and the boys will purchase the rifles with our tax dollars, and then destroy them. That would really make my blood pressure rise.

I think I remember reading something somewhere that many years ago in the 60's, when the M1 Garands were first becoming available, they were deemed completely unsuitable for criminal activity and therefore not a public menace. I don't remember where I read that but it is of course completely true. The rifles are, however, thoroughly suited for use by a citizen militia as well as recreational use. I think the current administration is far more concerned about a militant right wing than they should be and are far more paranoid of an armed populace than we are of a tyrannical government. They seem to really be jumping at all sorts of shadows and crying wolf at some perceived boogey man going bump in the dark.
FWIW my garand is utterly reliable and I have practiced with it extensively. I want an AR for several reasons, however. I want one because I just plain do

. I feel that owning something compatible with our nations armed forces makes alot of practicle sense. I feel it is, much like Switzerland and Israel, my civic duty to own the appropriate equipment and maintain my skills
That being said...if the zombies attack...I'm grabbing the Garand

Members of Congress to Clinton: Revisit Decision on M1 Rifles and M1 Carbines
Friday, October 08, 2010
U.S. senators and representatives from both sides of the aisle are urging Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to revisit the State Department's March 2010 decision disallowing the importation of M1 rifles and M1 carbines from South Korea.
In a letter to Secretary Clinton, Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) and 15 other senators state that the importation disapproval "amounts to no more than a backdoor gun ban that lacks any basis or justification under current Federal law and policy" and "violates law-abiding citizens' constitutional right, protected under the Second Amendment, to purchase these firearms for legitimate purposes such as target shooting, hunting, collecting, and self-protection."
The senators question the department's opinion that the rifles "could potentially be exploited by individuals seeking firearms for illicit purposes," and request from Secretary Clinton "an explanation of your reasons for blocking the importation and sale of American-made rifles from South Korea."
Maybe this will reverse things.

Springfield M1A: a short action Garand with a 20 round removable box magazine that will shoot 1 MOA all day long.
I has one.

$50M should pay about an hours worth of interest on the National debt.

I just sent a thank you note to Sen. Cornyn for his letter. It seems like my "wonderful" representative, the Hon. Henry Cuellar, couldn't be bothered to sign either of the House letters, though. And what's up with KBH of late? Has she fallen off the face of the earth? Haven't seen hide nor hair of her since the primaries.
