Obviously as idiotic as Mr. Krugman's assumptions are, he has enough intelligence to realize that comments would probably run approximately 20-1 in favor of lynching him or some other unpleasant action.

I've always preferred Tar-and-Feathering, myself. Always seems so much more civilized.

I've heard Krugman's political allies defend him because he's been given a Nobel prize for economics. Sort of a reverse of the ad hominem attack. Well, let's see . . . the Nobel folks have also given peace prizes to Arrafat and Obama. A terrorist and a newly-inagurated empty suit. I'm not so impressed with Krugman's Nobel prize after all. S'pose we'll need to just look at his work and arguments, where he falls pretty short.

How did someone who used to be so smart get so dumb?

Senile dementia? I think that he is playing up to the Obama Administration in his columns, looking for a soft government job from them. And, I have used his text on International Economics in my classes. It was a good book. Of course, he has a co-author so the book may be the work of the co-author and his name on it more for marketing purposes. Who knows?

Do most professors write the textbooks that bear their names? I always assumed the bulk of the work was done by grad students and post docs.
