Yes, some humans think, animals just react according to how they are trained.

And those in the public that are not civilize are considered what???......ANIMALS. i.e. murderers, rapist etc.

I always considered that an insult to animals. Animals kill to eat or to protect their territory, but they don't go out of their way to be cruel and engage in wanton violence and destruction the way humans can.

I think humans need to be trained even more than animals. Everyone who has raised kids knows that they will sometimes hit, take each others' stuff, call each other names, and fib. Some of the people in jail are evil, but most simply were not raised properly.

Today I was in my garage between cleaning up fireworks trash and mulching leaves when I heard a soft bark and looked down at a 30 pound pitbull (looking ) dog growling/ barking at me. My children were at the back of the garage and I was at the front with the dog. Several things flashed through my mind: first off hoping the silly dog would not attack, second the reasuring feeling of my carry peice on me. The owner came up quickly enough but several bites could have been taken if the dog was agressive. About 10 secs passed before the owner got the dog.

It made me think, What if the dog had started chewing on my leg or bit my left (non shooting hand) when I allowed him to sniff and invesitgate? What if the owner was not there and the dog would not be shued away. I was mostly concerned where his attention was ( it was on me not my kids) and luckily the nieghbor ran up and called him back. I would not like to have a cop at my house after an animal shooting. I carried becuase of the guy who was mauledby a dog in his front yard and died.

I had never thought of that. You could throw one to the dog while you made good your escape.

And of course, its always good to carry a back up cat (BUC).

I own two cats, too, and I still think that's funny.

I used to date a girl that had a cat that would come flying at you, claws out, the second you got into their house. That was a short-lived relationship...

I'd hate to trivialize this thread, but how much harder would the flying cat be to hit than the growling dog? Ha!

Yeah, but seeing how most of us normal dog owners will have nothing to do with pit bulls, much less own one, we shouldn't have to worry about our own dogs.

anyway, I'm watching AFV the other night, and they have this scene where it's a canoe, or raft or something cruising along the shoreline. The family cat is watching, with interest, as the kids are encouraging it to jump aboard. you can see the animal gauging the distance and what not, and after a tense moment of pondering, it takes a step into the water and pounces towards the boat.

and misses.

I swear I nearly wet myself laughing, as did my ol' lady and her 10yrold daughter. it was truly hilarious.
in conclusion, the feline, soaked to the skin, climbs up into the boat, none to happy.
I have a DVR, so we rewound, and rewatched the scene for a good, I dunno, half an hour, I even slo-mo'ed it a few times for added comedic gold.
