Maybe he could have given the laptop to the lady who actually DOES clean their house...........or donated it to someone else who needed it instead of destroying it....... (It was still funny though!)
Are you a recently relocated democrat pyschology major or what?

Definitely not a democrat,( although I did take a couple of psychology coursesback in the 70's). In My opinion, you don't teach a child to act like an adult by acting like a child. What he did was to REACT to her bad behavior by engaging in bad behavior. Who is supposed to be the adult here? Destroying a perfectly good laptop is DESTRUCTIVE and therefore a negative act. What kind of lesson is that? He just taught her that when someone does you wrong, then you go and take something that they love and destroy it. If he wanted to deprive her of her laptop, why not give to some one more deserving........or sell it on Ebay and give the money to charity? Or, better yet, why not turn it into a positive lesson by taking away the laptop for a period of time - say 6 months - and then requiring her to EARN it back by engaging in GOOD behavior? ...........like performing extra chores without complaining, attaining a certain grade level in school , volunteering to help out at the old folks home, painting the house, etc. See where I am going here? I just think there are better ways to handle this type of situation..........doesn't require a degree in Psychology, but a little common sense goes a long way.

IOW, you want to rehabilitate her and give her time off for good behavior?

I see no problem with what this man did he humiliated his daughter the same way she tried to humiliate her parents.

Naw............that comes much later.....after she completes the HOME COURSE in "violent-acting-out behavior" which then leads to some type of "violent acting out" criminal action for example: If she gets mad at her teacher at school for giving her too much homework, she might go and throw rocks through the teachers window.........or take a pellet gun and shoot out her car windows.......... (or we could just try to teach her a more socially acceptable form of behavior instead)

Horsefeathers! Destroying inanimate objects is only a "negative" act if it's not yours or you didn't intend to destroy it. Otherwise it's your stuff... do whatever you want with it.

Today's news articles say that the police visited the father (saying kudos) and that both the father and the daughter were interviewed separately by child protective services.

Won't you have liked to by a fly on the wall during that interview?
