My daughter never brought home anyone that she knew her mother or I would not approve. This included friends of both sexes. Same can be said of our son. Our daughter had a close group of friends that spent many weeknights and weekends at our house. To the best of our knowledge, none of them were ever in any type of real trouble or caused much trouble. Our son had a few questionable friends that we knew of, however, he kept them away from the house. I once said that as long as the police never had to come to the door looking for our kids, we must have done something right. Both are now married and great parents.
The first time I met my son-in-law I had just finished driving from central Texas to Mentor, OH. At my daughter's apartment, I had put my holster, EDC, keys, wallet, etc. on the coffee table while I cleaned up and changed. As I came into the living room, my future SIL was just arriving to her place. After the introductions, I went to gather my stuff and he commented on my gun. Before I could respond he reached under his shirt and produced an almost identical weapon. Needless to say he was a few steps closer to winning me over.
