I have not shot the Taurus, but my brother bought the Shield in 9mm a couple of weeks ago. We took it out to the range and I was extremely impressed. I loved it. It was more accurate than I expected, recoil was not bad, reliability was 100%, and the fit and finish was great. I would eagerly add one of these to my collection and in my opinion, it is worth the extra money. This is just a really well engineered piece of equipment from what I could tell.

I love my 709. I've had 1 ftf, and that seems to have been a primer issue as it would not fire in another gun also. I had an issue with the size of the gun until I added a Pierce extension to the mag. One of the first things I learned about the 709 was that they do not like +P ammo (to much charge for the short barrel?). That said, my next gun will be a M&P.

definitely let us know what you think after you get your shield. I am very interested as well, but will probably wait a little while to get one

A small gun shop in Bedford. They only 1 and they weren't sure when they would be getting any more.
I have it my possession now.
