I have two High Standards. One pistol has been "customized" with Bomar sights, and a trigger job. The other is factory off-the-shelf with a bull barrel. I prefer the "customed" one more, mostly for the trigger, but both are great guns. I wish I could shoot my others as well as this one.
I don't really consider the High Standard to be more "fun" than any of the other pistols like a Buckmark or Ruger. I like mine because the fit and finish is excellent. They have good adjustable sights. The checkered wood grips are functional and give the gun a classic look. The trigger is excellent and so is the accuracy. I have shot them for years and have never had an issue with failures to feed or fire with any brand of ammunition. The only problem I have had is finding magazines for them. Now that they are made in Houston, that's not as much of a problem.

Stay away from the walthers - I bought the plastic 22 cause I liked how it looked and felt and read some decent reviews
My gun wasn't reliable and didn't shoot worth a darn - sold it
I currently Have a Buckmark and love it - looking for nice S&W 41 to add to the collection

Yea, I've heard a lot of negativity about the Walther P22 and the Sig Mosquito, so I had decided a while ago to stay away from them.

So its time for an update. First off, thank you all for your comments. I always try to do a lot of research to better make the right choice the first time out. With that, I decided to go for the Sig 1911 .22 in FDE finish. I've heard the finish on the Sig/GSG wears off quick, so I figured FDE would show wear lest than OD green and Black. Plus, I like the 1911, its comfortable to me.
Like I said in another post, I'm still probably going to get the Ruger SR22, but probably closer to Christmas for the fiance. On that, today marks 1 year until I get married. So let the final year countdown begin.

Congrats on both of these decisions. I just celebrated my 2 year anniversary last week.
