Do you feel obligated to ask permission from your host to carry in their home?

Yes. Always. It's the polite, social, and "right" thing to do.

I on the other hand feel that someone else is probably NOT armed therefore I still want the added protection of having mine.

Everyone that I would visit know I carry (family and close friends). Those that are an occasional visit don't need to know.

When I have to visit a customers house, unless its posted, I carry. 4 years and no one has noticed yet.

So, my answer is NO.
