The whole system is broke.

Dead people vote.

Illegals vote.

Dead people, illegals, and zombies vote multiple times.

In most places where Dead people, illegals, and zombies vote there are no ID requirements.

Black panthers intimidate voters.

The collectivists pay for votes with "entitlement paychecks".

The vote would work if it was all carried out ethically and legally per the constitution(s).

With the unethical illegal voting there is no way term limits will ever pass anywhere.

This makes the argument moot at best.

I am absolutely opposed to term limits at the state or federal levels. If an elected official doesn't have to answer to the people who elected them, then they are free to do whatever they want.

People who support terms limits tend to want to limit other people's choices, not their own.

I also respectfully disagree. You make a valid point, but I think that can be addressed by including in the amendment the authority to recall/impeach the Senator/Representative prior to completion of their term. As it is, the Constitution doesn't allow the electorate to recall them. However, I can also see that a recall clause can be abused by political opponents. So there should be some kind of safeguard to help prevent abuse, such as a certain number of voters to file a petition for the recall and afterwards, a certain minimum percentage, such as 2/3rds of the voting public, must vote in favor of the recall. Or perhaps have a State's legislature retain the authority to recall.

I think a more pragmatic argument against term limits would be the inexperience of "newbie" Senators/Reps replacing the veterans. So instead of limiting it to only one term, perhaps two or even three terms would be better, with staggered terms to allow for both "junior" and "senior" Senators/Reps from each State to allow for the experienced to help mentor the newly elected.

Either way, much respect to you for being the lone voice against it, and for arguing your point so eloquently.

With the gerrymandering that has gone on politicians feel exempt from accountability. Primaries are controlled by extremists on both parties. A centrist can not be elected to anything in today's world. Take politics out of redistricting and we can see improvement in accountability.
