Not to much thought here on campus Carry..
But I have never understood why anyone would want to open Carry!!!
Is rhere a reponse other than____________---

Because summer carry anywhere south of the Mason-Dixon line gets "interesting" trying to keep it concealed without overheating?
Because sometimes you don't want to sweat all over your pistol?
Because sometimes you don't want to bother?
Because you're making a political statement?
Because you're acting as a visual deterrent to criminals?
Because you're showing the public-at-large that there's nothing to be feared from a "man with a gun"?
Because you have a pretty pistol that you want to show off as a functional work of art?
Because you're a woman, and sometimes nice clothes or comfort get in the way of concealment?
Because you're poking a stick in the eye of the anti-gunners?
...
Because this is America, because the Second Amendment makes no distinction for concealed vs open, because you can?
As you can probably tell, this is a bit of a pet peeve of mine. I understand that there are some people that have no desire to openly carry, for a variety of reasons. Some of these reasons are good ones, some are frankly founded on faulty data or fears, and some are simply personal choices made regardless of any external factors. Yet, just because one person will not do something doesn't mean no one else should.
Freedom isn't restricted to just those things we like, or use. If it is, it's not freedom, it's privilege.

If you recently received an out-of-state alert or read a blog attacking the Texas Speaker of the House, thank you for noticing the inaccuracies, bad information and for not calling the Speaker's office or a member of the Legislature.
Earlier this month a letter was sent from this same out-of-Texas source attacking HB 972 by Rep. Fletcher and SB 182 by Sen. Birdwell. These two bills, hammered-out over two previous legislative sessions, would allow adult students, faculty and staff with a concealed handgun license to have this important personal safety option as they go about their daily activities on a college campus.
The letter was followed by an email alert which blames the impending loss of these bills and other pro-gun bills on Speaker of the House Joe Straus.
Nothing in the alert was correct.
All Legislation in Texas is alive and well. Gun bills are in very good shape, thanks to an ongoing and open relationship with leadership in both chambers of the Texas Legislature.
You might recall during last session, after 8 long years, TSRA was able to pass SB 321, the Employee Protection Act. We also passed SB 766 to protect safe shooting ranges from frivolous lawsuits. These two important bills passed with help from Speaker of the House Joe Straus and Lt. Governor David Dewhurst in the Senate.
As in past Legislative Sessions, House and Senate Committees begin hearing testimony on bills as filing ends. The close for bill filing is tomorrow. The process will now begin to push forward.
This is not the time for misinformation or inaccuracies from a source having no presence in Texas, no "boots on the ground".
While TSRA strongly supports and encourages diversity of opinion, the attack on the Texas Speaker was unfounded, incorrect and an embarrassing distraction at best.

I am Not a Deputy Sheriff
Or a City Police Officer

Maybe this will help you understand......
Now with CC you go into a barbershop with you jacket on.
You have either left your gun in the car (can be stolen) or you have pulled your shirt out to cover your gun when you take your jacket off to get in the chair to get your haircut.
Or how about you go into a restaurant and have the same problem when you take your jacket off. Your gun is either in your car or you have made some other arrangement to conceal it after you take your jacket off.
How about you go into a clothing store? You are wearing a jacket but you want to buy a new jacket.
See where this is going?.......
Now put that all together with the numerous States that have already passed OC laws and "Blood has NOT run in the streets". It makes a lot of us wonder why Texas is lagging behind in passing this when we really should have lead the action.
So there you have it......convenience and the choice. Simple as that.
Oh........and you might consider "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" as well.

The chancelor of the University of Texas Austin has been doing all he can
to stop campus carry. I gave a donation to TSRA as a protest
