Not sure the reporter understands the legislative process very well:

"The 7-1 vote by the House Committee on Homeland Security and Public Safety sends the bill to the full House for consideration. The committee did not debate the bill before taking a vote."

They left out that little step called the Calendar Committee... :???:

Isn't it dead this session, realistically? BTW, there was no real attempt by the Gov. or Lt. Gov. to get it through beyond some talk.

Just read this today. Breaks my heart. How in the great state of Texas can we not get this piece of legislation passed? Not being able to carry to class is such a pain.

Special concealed carry perks for legislators is much more important work for the Senate.

And it will remain such until the Legislature deals with the the administrations of the Texas public universities. This problem is greater than campus carry. The very Liberal people who are the chief administrators treat the schools as their own private fiefdoms. They are not accountable or transparent about the budgets that they have or anything that they do.

I really don't care what Rice and the other private institutions do. As long as the school takes public money, it is accountable in all matters to the government of Texas. That includes acting like any other Texas governmental entity regarding firearms. The time for histrionics about the danger to the Texas citizenry including students on campus because of concealed handguns ended 15 years ago.
